Job Description

Are you a skilled and experienced HVAC Mechanic? Then we want you to join our dynamic facilities team currently supporting two GSA facilities in the Kansas City, MO area. This role offers a unique opportunity to leverage your expertise and directly contribute to maintaining high-profile facilities. Candidate shall have at 2-4 years of experiences in a trade or occupation in maintenance, repair and operation of HVAC equipment in buildings. Must have at least one of the following three certifications (or obtain them within 90 days of starting work with NVE): NATE HVAC Service Technician Certification, HVAC Excellence Professional Level Certification, or UA Star HVAC Mastery Certification. The individual will be responsible for inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing building systems and associated equipment. Existing HSPD-12 desirable. Shift is Monday through Friday 8 AM - 4:30 PM.

NVE Inc. is seeking an HVAC Mechanic to join our team currently providing operations and maintenance (O&M) support at two GSA facilities in the Kansas City Missouri area. Candidate shall have at 2-4 years of experiences in a trade or occupation in maintenance, repair and operation of HVAC equipment in buildings. Must have at least one of the following three certifications (or obtain them within 90 days of starting work with NVE): NATE HVAC Service Technician Certification, HVAC Excellence Professional Level Certification, or UA Star HVAC Mastery Certification. The individual will be responsible for inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing building systems and associated equipment, such as HVAC Systems, chillers and chilled water systems, boilers & hot water heating systems; operating and performing Preventive Maintenance (PM) on building systems and equipment; and performing refrigerant recovery and recycling.  Personnel engaged in the maintenance, servicing, and repair of refrigerant-containing equipment/systems shall be trained and certified as a Universal Technician (See 40 CFR 82.) by an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-approved source in the proper handling, recovery, and recycling of CFC refrigerants. Shift is Monday through Friday 8 AM - 4:30 PM.

Job Requirements/Duties:

  • Understand written and oral instructions to perform the required work
  • Perform basic building maintenance of a government commercial office building
  • General building maintenance knowledge in a variety of skilled and semi-skilled craft trades to support mechanical and electrical heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning machinery
  • Make minor adjustment and repairs to HVAC building systems in support of the contract
  • Perform minor preventive maintenance functions such as changing filters, cleaning heating and cooling coils, etc.
  • Responsible for maintaining, responding to service request, as needed under guidance of the PM, Chief Engineer, or Supervisor.
  • Use a variety of power and hand tools to perform job functions.
  • Perform emergency repairs and available for after hour and weekend repairs
  • Work effectively with the customer, building tenants and other team members
  • Ability to troubleshoot, complete work order assigned in a timely matter
  • Ability to read Architectural and Manufacturing blueprints and generate design concepts using available tools.
  • Capable with basic office equipment to include cell phone, tablet, telephone, fax and copy scanner.

Note: This is a Local 101 Union Site, Wages and Benefits subject to CBA.

Qualifications

Qualifications for the position include:

  • High School or Equivalent (at a minimum)
  • Must have (or obtain within 90 days of starting work with NVE) at least one of the following three certifications (must be maintained for continued employment):
    • NATE HVAC Service Technician Certification
    • HVAC Excellence Professional Level Certification
    • UA Star HVAC Mastery Certification
  • OSHA 30 desired
  • CFC Universal Technician Certification Required
  • An existing HSPD-12 Determination for Work is highly desirable.
