The Role?  

As a Director of Social Media, you will be driving the strategy for the content and community engagement across all of OUAI’s social platforms. Reporting into the Sr. Director of Social & Influencer, you will lead a team in creating innovative, social-first content and campaigns for one of the fastest growing social networks in beauty. You will be the visual brand DNA and brand voice across high impact platforms. A passion for growing and fostering community will also be a key component within this scope. This role will drive engagement, innovation, and brand loyalty while ensuring our voice remains authentic and aligned with our mission. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop a tailored, high-impact organic brand social strategy, holistically and for of each of our brand-owned social platforms, conceptualizing and leading the execution of visually compelling content to drive engagement and advance the brand identity 
  • Build and execute an annual content calendar with monthly objectives to drive growth, engagement and align with key trends 
  • Build and execute the social strategy for all new product launches as well as an on-going strategy to support our core products and brand tentpole moments 
  • Lead creator-first strategies across organic channels and performance marketing, partnering with the PR & Influencer teams for creator campaigns and activations to execute 
  • Serve as the expert on how to tailor and optimize brand communications and content to our social audiences 
  • Balance creativity with data-informed performance, ensuring every piece of content balances brand identity with a social-first lens to optimize content for platform algorithms 
  • Use social as a tool to build brand equity as well as drive revenue 
  • Lead the strategy and voice for how OUAI interacts with other brands and communities across social media, driving community engagement and fostering authentic conversations to convert customers to community 
  • Find ways to activate OUAI community offline, creating meaningful moments of connection with our biggest fans. Lead quarterly social community events that build brand love and fuel advocacy aligned to brand, product, + campaign objectives. 
  • Flawlessly connect the dots between broader brand strategy, marketing objectives, department initiatives, + day to day execution, while employing a data-driven mindset + passion for visually stunning and entertaining content to drive results. 
  • Partner with our retailers to drive optimal social exposures on their channels and brainstorm innovative ways to use social media experiences to enhance our retail relationships 
  • Partner with Digital team to build a 12 month paid social roadmap and determine how our influencer community & UGC will funnel into our media flywheel, as well as support the DTC flagship  
  • Partner with our Product Development team to integrate a community feedback loop into all milestones of our innovation pipeline 
  • Lead and execute development of global business, through social content and strategies connecting to key INTL priorities 
  • Own social KPIs, building advanced reporting frameworks to measure success and guide strategy. Monitor, pivot, + enhance strategy as needed based on performance reporting, industry trends, innovations, target audience preferences, + competitive analysis. 
  • Expert in brand voice and writing social copy, ensuring the OUAI voice is captured in all content and copy across platforms.  
  • Develop social commerce strategies, including TikTokShops and conversion-driven social features, both new and emerging 
  • Establish OUAI as a leader in the social space by being the first to capitalize on new channels and technologies 
  • Stay abreast of key industry trends, competitive insights and emerging social media/marketing/e-commerce technologies and benchmark and research competitor and industry leaders in social media and creator marketing 
  • Serve as lead cross-functional rep for the team, partnering with teams throughout the organization to integrate social into larger business strategies including but not limited to the following: Provide recommendations on ways to utilize our social community as brand evangelists for our business objectives. Report on research and learnings from our community 
  • Lead + inspire direct team with a mindset of anticipation, collaboration, + innovation to recommend new ideas and plans that help drive brand cut-through + experimentation. 
  • Responsible for closely managing social budget and meeting financial targets 

What You’ll Bring:  

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in social media strategy, content innovation, and digital marketing, ideally within a premium beauty or lifestyle brand. 
  • "We Aren’t Afraid to Go First." We are looking for someone who leads the way in discovering and testing new platforms, trends, and content strategies. This person should have a proactive mindset, always pushing boundaries to keep OUAI ahead of the curve in the ever-evolving social landscape.
  • Hybrid (Los Angeles, CA) – Requires in-office presence.
  • Proven track record of building a high growth, top EMV brand within the premium beauty category. 
  • A deep understanding of social algorithms, platform best practices, and content optimization techniques across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and emerging platforms. 
  • Strong analytical skills, with expertise in social analytics tools (e.g., Dash Hudson) and experience with attribution modeling. 
  • A proven track record of building and scaling high-performing social campaigns that drive both engagement and brand loyalty 
  • Strong cross-functional leadership, collaborating with digital, retail, product, and marketing teams to ensure social strategy aligns with broader business objectives.

  • Annual Base Salary Range is $155K–$170K(based on experience) + potentially for yearly bonus
