Lead R&D Electrical Engineering

Responsibilities

Peraton is looking for a Senior R&D Engineer to join their team of electrical, mechanical, and software engineers and technicians in support of the US Navy's submarine trials program.  In this position, you will be working within a government-contractor team on the development, integration, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of research and development electronic systems used during naval vessel sea trials.

 

Responsibilities include the following: 

 

  • You will be responsible for developing analog and digital circuitry for processing of waveforms received and transmitted via underwater transducers.
  • You will be integrating and testing electronic systems, components, or circuits often used in rugged, compact equipment able to be carried on to a submarine.
  • You will be evaluating operational systems and recommending design modifications to eliminate causes of malfunctions or to improve robustness.
  • You will be using National Instruments data acquisition devices and LabVIEW software, including graphical user interfaces, to develop and troubleshoot high-precision systems for test vessel tracking and position monitoring.
  • You will be testing and evaluating the performance of acoustic transducers installed on naval vessels.
  • You will be operating test vessel tracking and position monitoring systems during at-sea acoustic trials.
  • You will be analyzing tracking test data from acoustic trials and evaluating the performance of onboard and shore-based test vessel tracking systems.

 

Travel to naval bases and aboard naval ship will be required, up to 20%, including lifting and carrying items up to 40 pounds in weight, working in confined spaces, and climbing vertical ladders. 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

 

BS/BA 5+ years; MS/MA 3+ years;  PhD 0+ years of experience.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must have an Active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Must have demonstrable proficiency with troubleshooting electronic and electrical systems.
  • Must be internally motivated, having a “self-starter” type personality.
  • The successful candidate will be reliable and can be trusted to work consistently on tasks without close supervision, individually, or as part of a small team.
  • National Instruments certification in LabVIEW highly desirable.

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
