Responsibilities

Peraton Labs is seeking a talented Network Engineer to join our high performing team. Network Engineers provide network engineering, network management, and engineering support to existing Peraton projects. They design and plan Voice Over IP (VoIP) network communications systems. Network Engineers also plan the implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the VoIP network. They also advise VoIP network users on hardware and software requirements, configurations, and limitations. They also maintain technical expertise in all areas of VoIP network hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as firewalls, gateways, and VoIP network elements like Session Border Controllers (SBCs) and Enterprise Session Controllers (ESCs).

 

This job posting is for a Network Engineer position on the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Enterprise Voice Services (EVS) program. Peraton Labs will be part of the EVS Engineering team supporting Voice Over IP (VoIP) services at DISA. Periodic travel to the DISA Headquarters site in Fort Meade, MD, may be required.

 

Examples of DISA Network Elements that support EVS are the Cisco UC Manager (CUCM) ESC, the Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE) SBC, the Oracle Networks SBC, and the Cisco ASA Firewall. Familiarity with VoIP services provided by Microsoft Office 365 Teams systems, both customer-premise-based and commercial-cloud-network-based, is also a plus.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide for the design, engineering, technical documentation, configuration, implementation, troubleshooting, and repair of VoIP network systems (CUCM, CUBE, SBC, FW), in both a lab environment and a production environment
  • Work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, requiring professional and effective interactions and communications
  • Explain technical concepts to non-technical personnel
  • Be comfortable working individually or in small teams. and on several projects simultaneously
  • Configure and document VoIP network assets, in both a lab environment, and a production environment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues
  • Assist Senior Network Engineering staff on the program with completion of deliverables (Weekly Reports, Device Configuration Guides, Device User Guides) for the customer

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 0 years with BS/BA; 2 years with Associate's Degree
  • Degree in Computer Science, Math, Electrical Engineering, Networking, Telecommunications, or a related field 
  • Able to read and understand a network infrastructure diagram
  • VoIP Network device (e.g., CUCM, CUBE, Oracle SBC, Cisco ASA) experience
  • Must have knowledge and skills in the fundamentals of VoIP technology
  • Ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship

Desired Qualifications:

 

  • At least 1 year of related technical experience
  • Experience in Networking and Application protocols, like SIP, SRTP, DHCP, and DNS
  • Experience supporting enterprise network environments
  • Several years of experience with Cisco VoIP Network devices
  • VoIP network protocol understanding (SIP, SRTP, TFTP, CAPF, Cisco Skinny Protocol)
  • A current Top Secret security clearance and the ability to obtain SCI and pass a polygraph
  • Good interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical people
