$75,400.00 - $113,000.00Purpose Statement: The System Engineer role has responsibility for designing, implementing, managing, and optimizing scalable infrastructure solutions, and a particular focus on citrix administration. The delivery of these sustainable and reliable technology solutions is accomplished through close collaboration with other IT personnel, business partners and vendors. Innovation, continuous improvement, and automation are core competencies valued in this role.
Key Job Accountabilities:
Design and implement infrastructure technologies, solutions, and services.
Core technologies: Active Directory, Citrix, and Microsoft server operating systems.
Beneficial knowledge: VMware, Nutanix
Monitor system performance and capacity, and troubleshoot system issues.
Proficient use, general understanding or ability to learn scripting and automation tools to improve efficiencies or effectiveness of the Systems Engineer role: Powershell, Ansible, Terraform, and other infrastructure as code.
Configures system software for required functionality and performance. Investigates and resolves system software problems, requesting action from the supplier if required.
Provisions/installs, configures and maintains infrastructure services and components to include performance and security events. Operational ownership of key infrastructure components. Investigates minor security breaches in accordance with established procedures. Assists users in defining their access rights and privileges.
Designs system components using appropriate modeling techniques following agreed architectures, design standards, patterns and methodology. Produces detailed design specifications to form the basis for the construction of systems.
Develops and adapts innovation tools, processes and infrastructures to drive the process of innovation. Identifies resources and capabilities needed to support innovation. Manages and facilitates the communication and open flow of creative ideas between interested parties.
Education/Experience Qualifications:
Bachelors preferred
Four (4) years of related experience is required; six (6) or more years of related experience is preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key job accountabilities may be considered.
Other Qualifications:
This role requires “US Persons” status.
Experience with on-premise, hosted and cloud infrastructure.
Maintain the confidentiality of all departments, company and customer information while working safely at all times.
Ability to work independently and take initiative to drive complex projects
Ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical team members
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
The ability to support around the clock monitoring and management and may result in support or activities after normal business hours.
Develops, maintains and tests incident management procedures in agreement with service owners.
Investigates escalated, non-routine and high-impact incidents to responsible service owners and seeks resolution.
Facilitates recovery, following resolution of incidents. Ensures that resolved incidents are properly documented and closed.
Analyses causes of incidents, and informs service owners to minimize probability of recurrence, and contributes to service improvement. Analyses metrics and reports on the performance of the incident management process.
