Overview

Are you ready to make a significant impact on Shure's growth and innovation? We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Commodity Manager to support one of our strategic initiatives in fostering collaborative engagement in manufacturing and development with our supply partners. In this role, you will work closely with a diverse team of professionals, both internally and externally, to drive our company's success and growth.

 

Reporting to the Sr. JDM/ODM/OEM Commodity Manager, and working closely across departments (Sourcing, Engineering, Supplier Quality, Product Management, and others), you will support selection and management of JDM/ODM/OEM suppliers in alignment with company strategy and manage related products through the entire life cycle from New Product Introduction/Development (NPI) to End of Life (EOL)/ Last Time Buy (LTB).

 

This position is hybrid and based in our Niles, IL location. 

Responsibilities

  • Supports and develops JDM/ODM/OEM suppliers. This position will optimize supplier performance including Product Development, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Innovation, as well as Supply Chain Management, etc.
    • Drives supplier selection based on supplier technology, resource capacity, innovation, quality, cost and service.
    • Contributes to a Commodity Plan based on company strategy and direction, providing recommended updates to adapt strategy as business, market, and economic environments change.
    • Maintains Supplier Classification, Supplier Capability Matrix, and Supplier Scorecard
    • Constantly evaluates and identifies supplier risks in term of financial, quality, delivery, cost, capacity, system, market, etc. and leads efforts to address those risks.
    • Maintains and develops supplier relationship. This includes on-site visits, Quarterly Business Reviews, regular conference calls and supplier visits to Shure. Understands supplier’s organizational structure, resource capacity, work shift, business roadmap, infrastructure planning, and so on...
    • Collaborates with various internal groups to resolve any issues from supplier’s quality, delivery, and design performance.
    • Identifies cost reduction opportunities and drives implementation.
  • Analyzes market trends
    • Conducts market analysis for new technology, cost, lead-time, and capacity
    • With support from component-level Commodity Managers, analyzes market drivers affecting the commodity (raw material, component availability, global supply and demand, etc.)
  • Initiates and conducts annual supplier cost negotiations
    • Conducts spend analysis, leading to negotiation with supply base
    • Leads pricing negotiations
    • Establishes terms and conditions for contracts
  • Conducts supplier business reviews
    • Utilizes standardized agenda
    • Conducts technology roadmap alignment - Coordinates with Engineering
    • Identifies cost reduction opportunities
    • Reviews delivery performance
    • Reviews quality performance
    • Reviews contracrt performance
  • Supports new product development activities
  • Supports new supplier qualification
  • Coordinates supplier technology presentations for Shure team (PDD, GPM).  Introduces new suppliers to Shure team when necessary and educates Shure team on latest market information.
  • Assists in socialization of/training related to the JDM/ODM/OEM process and company strategy
  • Supports and participates on cross-functional Commodity Team and corporate project teams that involve changes or implications to responsible commodity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a technically related field.
  • 5 years exp. in Business, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Project Management or a technical position.
  • Experience and knowledge in the Audio field, Contract Manufacturing, JDM/ODM/OEM project management preferred.
  • Familiarity with process or vocabulary related to software/firmware development is a plus.
  • Competence with MS Office software, MS Excel and MS Access is required.
  • Proven leadership ability and problem-solving skills are a must.
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams in a matrix organization required
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving and project management skills required

  • 25% global travel

Base salaries vary based on qualifications, geography, experience, and expertise in each respective discipline. The base salary range for this position is between $97,800 - 191,600. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base salary for this opportunity. This position may also be eligible for our incentive pay program, which varies based on individual and Company performance in the year. If your salary expectations do not align, still apply as we are often flexible on the seniority of posted positions. All positions also include an award-winning benefits package.
