Data Analytics Engineer (Groton, CT)

Sonalysts is seeking an experienced Data Analytics Engineer to execute a submarine data collection and analysis program primarily as the database administrator and data engineer, but also peform data analysis as part of a team.  The individual selected will join a small but growing team of subject matter experts and operations analysts that is revolutionizing data management and analysis within all levels of the US Navy. The candidate must be experienced in administration of databases and must enjoy working with a group of other skilled data scientists on solutions that directly support the submarine force.  Sonalysts will consider candidates without specific prior database administrator experience, if the candidate is sufficiently experienced in other areas of information technology / data science and is willing to learn a new skill.

Though the primary responsibility of the candidate will be to manage and administer a medium-sized and moderately complex database, the position will afford significant opportunity to also contribute as an analyst, IT subject matter expert, and data scientist – this is a job for the intellectually curious!

This position is a rare opportunity to support both individual submarine crews and the highest levels of the US Navy in a manner that is exciting, challenging, and rewarding.  Frequent travel is not required.

• Salary range $80,000-$140,000, dependent on experience, education and specific qualifications or certifications, and other relevant business criteria.

Required Qualifications:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen, possessing an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET security clearance*
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/related technical degree or at least 4 years of relevant database administration experience
• Experience with at least one modern relational databasing system such as MS Access, MySQL, MS SQL Server, or Oracle

Preferred candidates will possess the following:

• Eligible for a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance*
• Experience in and/or knowledge of:
• MS SQL Server
• Working in multiple Operating Systems (e.g. Windows, Linux)
• Visual Basic, Python, and/or Powershell scripting
• 4+ years of database administration
• Microsoft Office product integration
• Operations Research
• Data Science techniques and processes

• Certifications:
  • MS SQL Server Database Administrator Certification
  • CompTIA Security+
