Please note: Although based out of Greensboro, this is a field position requiring regular travel. Most repair jobs will likely be within a 100-mile radius of the Greensboro shop, but some jobs will be farther away. There will also be ongoing travel for training, especially during the first 6-12 months.

Summary: To provide technical support and repair of customer equipment in the field. To maintain a high-quality level of service in support of the company’s sales effort. Must be familiar with water/wastewater treatment environments: control panels/PLCs, submersible pumps, lift stations, etc.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Inspect, repair, and service customer equipment at the customer’s location in response to customers’ calls.
  • Installation – technical consultation and installation assistance to on-site personnel or contractors
  • Start-up – site readiness preparation, start-up monitoring, and training
  • Understanding and ability to repair electrical controls. Panel testing, panel wiring and trouble shooting
  • Proficient with wiring motors & sensors.
  • Diagnosing & testing electrical motors from 1hp to 450hp
  • Proficient with voltages ranging from 115V single phase to 480v 3 phase
  • Mechanic seal installs & pressure testing
  • Bearing configuration ranging from single row to duplex arrangement
  • Ability to read micrometers, dial indicators, calibers & other assorted measuring tools.
  • Hydraulic impellers, wear rings & clearances
  • Multi-testers for testing motors and sensors
  • Able to read and understand electrical schismatics
  • Understand manuals & drawings for disassembly, assembly and testing
  • Travel for customer assistance or training
  • Establish a work schedule in coordination with Service & Repair Manager and Repair Coordinator
  • Perform preventative maintenance service on customer equipment at the customer’s location.
  • Perform some in-shop equipment repair.
  • Maintain field or shop work area in a safe, clean, and working order.
  • Adhere to Tencarva and customer safety rules and policies.
  • Proper safety equipment to be used per Company safety policies
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.



Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 2-4 years related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.



Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Must possess understanding of and compliance with codes and OSHA regulations, including Lockout/Tagout, Fall protection, Hot Work, Crane Rigging/Signaling, and job hazard analysis.
  • Ability to safely use lifting materials such as chain-falls, come-along, clevis, slings, and chains
  • Experience tearing down and restoring/rebuilding pumps and other types of rotating flow control equipment
  • Experience installing the following: Mechanical Seals & Packing; Pumps (Vertical & Horizontal); Sole Plates (concrete, leveling, anchoring, and alignment); Pump Base (concrete, leveling, anchoring, and alignment); Piping & Gaskets; Valves
  • Experience with Laser Alignment of all types of equipment
  • Experience in water/wastewater treatment - preferably municipal, but industrial wastewater is also helpful
  • Welding and fabrication skills
  • Experience with Industrial Field Pipefitting
  • Must be mechanically inclined and have technical understanding of machinery
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, machinery detail drawings, and layout drawings
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve any issues or malfunctions with equipment
  • Must possess drive and initiative
  • Must possess ability to listen to instruction and follow direction given


Language Skills: Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The ability to write routine reports and correspondence. The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.



Mathematical Skills: Must be able to perform basic mathematical equations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, use of whole numbers, and percentage and decimals.



Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills and internet software knowledge.



Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Must have a valid driver’s license and no points.



Equipment Operated: Forklift, hoist, crane, hand tools, power tools, drills, band saw, drill press, lathe mills, and other equipment deemed necessary to fulfill the job’s functions.

Must be able to exert force over 100 pounds occasionally, and more than 50 pounds frequently; climb, balance, stop, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include being able to accommodate/adjusting the lens of the eye to bring an object into sharp focus and maintain a good field of vision, observing an area that can be seen up or down or right or left while eyes are fixed in a given point.
  • Must be able to meet the standards outlined in the WorkSteps program satisfactorily.
  • Must be able to fulfill all essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
