Job Summary

The Program Director of Joint Degree Programs serves as the primary contact for students pursuing Joint Degree programs connected to Booth’s Full-time, Evening, and Weekend MBA Programs, including the JD/MBA, MBA/MD, MBA/Master’s Program in Computer Science, and several others. This staff leader will work collaboratively with the teams in Booth’s Admissions, Academic Services, Career Services, and Student Life Offices to ensure students understand the progression of their program(s), the necessary curricular requirements, and the opportunities available outside of the classroom to achieve their co-curricular goals. In addition, this leader will collaborate with partners across the University of Chicago campus to help students navigate to the appropriate resources.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary contact on behalf of Chicago Booth for students participating in joint degree programs connected to Booth’s Full-time, Evening, and Weekend MBA Programs. This includes the following programs: JD/MBA, MD/MBA, MPP/MBA, MBA/MA Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice, MBA/MA International Relations, MBA/MS Computer Science, MBA/MS Biomedical Sciences, and MBA/MS Applied Data Science.
  • Supports the development of new interdisciplinary partnerships and joint programs between Booth and other University of Chicago schools and divisions. Serves as the primary contact on behalf of Chicago Booth for students participating in these new programs.
  • Serves as the primary contact on behalf of Chicago Booth for students participating in the early career accelerated option and the early career accelerated option scholarship program
  • Represents Chicago Booth, in collaboration with Booth’s Admissions team, to inform prospective students of Booth’s joint degree programs. This may include formal presentations, Q&A sessions, panels, etc.
  • Manages all aspects of the Joint Degree Committee including, but not limited to, onboarding, recruitment, applications, hosting meetings, and sharing feedback with administration.
  • Leads community-building activities for the joint-degree students to ensure students in these programs meet one another and can develop a collaborative cohort. This may include occasional lunch meetings, info sessions, welcome events, orientation and onboarding events, ordering of swag/supplies, etc. Manages logistics for these activities, including booking spaces, ordering catering, managing A/V, and other event planning needs.
  • Directs students to the appropriate people and resources at Booth for an individual student’s needs and aspirations. This includes directing students to the appropriate resources in Academic Services for academic advising, Student Life for Booth student groups and social events, and Career Services for career and professional-oriented advising and support.
  • Provides updates and improvements to external and internal website content about the joint degree programs.
  • Manages budget to support joint degree activities, monitors spending, and processes any necessary reimbursements for students in a timely manner.
  • Supports all-hands-on-deck events, such as Graduation, which may include working extra hours.
  • Solves complex problems in areas such as academic and administrative policy, student admissions, curriculum research and development, and budget development. Advises various campus-wide and program committees in various aspects of student life.
  • Leads and recommends process improvements for programs that relate to critical student-life improvement, including emergency management, accommodations for students with disabilities, and/or the administration of health care services and programs for students.
  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.


Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Graduate degree.

Experience:

  • A minimum seven years in higher education, student activities/services, event planning, project management, or related experience.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:

  • Strong command of Microsoft Office programs, especially Outlook. Proficiency in using on-line resources, spreadsheets, presentation software, and a willingness and enthusiasm to learn internal systems.

Preferred Competencies

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Articulate and lead in a variety of settings, from small meetings to large presentations.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills. Multitask, meet deadlines, and work successfully in a fast-paced environment.
  • Deep commitment to student service, and a service-oriented mentality, as well as a positive attitude and commitment to collaborating and being a team player.
  • An understanding and appreciation of a competitive MBA landscape and the needs and concerns of a diverse MBA student and alumni body.
  • Discretion, judgment, and work with sensitive information in a confidential manner.

Working Conditions

  • This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office.
  • When necessary, to work non-traditional hours, including early morning, evening and weekends, and to travel between Hyde Park and downtown Gleacher Center.
