Job Summary

Urban Grid is seeking a Land Acquisition Manager, who will be an integral part of the Land Acquisition team, helping to ensure we continue to develop the most competitive projects in the market.  You will be responsible for acquiring land to support projects that are in active development for utility scale solar.  Additional land includes but is not limited to land to support solar, connective easements, access or other agreements to support the project.

This position should be flexible and capable of working in a dynamic team of professionals and should be familiar with US power markets and renewable development. The right candidate will be a hands-on, hard-working team player who can jump in and support projects from a variety of angles. The Land Acquisition Manager position requires equally excellent communication and technical skills as well as the ability to work well under pressure, multitask, and the flexibility to shift priorities on the go. A passion for renewable energy is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Landowner outreach, communication, and negotiation of various surface agreements to support project development.
  • Effectively manage transaction processes between Land Acquisition, Development, and Legal teams.
  • Assist or support 3rd party relationships, particularly interactions with attorneys on contract needs across various projects.
  • Detailed daily and weekly activity and status reporting are required across assigned projects.
  • Identify and communicate land related project risk to project development team and land team leadership
  • Required to travel up to 70 % of the time.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, business administration, Energy Management
  • 8 + years of land acquisition experience with a preference of at least 3 years of utility-scale site acquisition or similar role (more preferred). “In-House” experience preferred.
  • Experience in the energy industry, specifically renewables, preferred
  • Experience performing property research and familiarity with land ownership principles and mineral right severances and impacts to project development.
  • Superior negotiation skills working on various land agreements. A history of negotiating with corporate landowners a plus
  • Strong grasp of real estate contract terms and conditions and ability to quickly read and extract key provisions from land agreements and legal.
  • Familiarity with the various elements and phases of the project development process.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with the use of CRM and tracking software. GIS application familiarity is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in teams and deliver results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and the ability to multi-task are critical.
