Director of NA Strategy - job 41 of 42

Visa is recruiting a Director-level strategy professional for the Visa NA Strategy team. This role is for someone who loves both the left and the right brain sides of the strategy domain. In this role, you will help Visa NA’s senior business teams get creative with new ideas and shift direction when the market situation calls for it. You will apply financial and business analysis to weed out unworkable ideas, and make the best ones even better. And even more importantly, you are somebody who can help us turn our best ideas into reality. The role requires experience with strategy development and execution management in a large company environment, and at the same time the passion for nimble and fast-paced execution that smaller growth-stage companies demonstrate so well. This role will require you to work effectively with senior executives as well as peers across the organization with a diverse range of styles. The role reports to our VP of Strategy for Visa NA.

The Strategy function at Visa has proven to be an effective talent incubator for high-potential early to mid-career professionals, with dozens of strategy team members at both junior and senior levels moving on to high-impact and high-visibility leadership roles across the firm. With strong performance, the successful candidate for this role can expect, in due time, opportunities for both internal promotion on the strategy team, as well as leadership opportunities in the business.

Role Description

Visa’s North America Strategy team helps Visa’s NA Leadership Team sets Visa's regional strategy & agenda. The Director of NA Strategy can expect to be fully immersed in the work of the team, which includes:

  • Process and content ownership for NA’s medium-to-long range strategic planning process
  • Internal strategy consulting projects with different parts of the NA organization on business topics of high importance
  • Regional support to corporate strategy projects
  • Monitoring execution of the region’s strategy, advising the leadership team on status, and advising on interventions and course corrections
  • Monitoring the market landscape and ensuring the evolving strategy reflects an informed and insightful view of market realities and trends

Within the team, the Director of NA Strategy can expect to:

  • Lead projects or major project workstreams related to Visa NA’s Inc.'s strategy and top business priorities
  • Manage day-to-day project and team activities to meet project goals and timelines
  • Structure and solve business problems, collaborating and coordinating with a range of internal stakeholders to make recommendations on a wide range of business issues. Build out unique, creative and impactful solutions by integrating insights across Visa's many expert functional resources and supporting collaborative solution development
  • Develop rigorous, fact based, quantitative analysis to support recommendations. Ensure strategic and financial soundness and alignment for any recommendations
  • Work closely with cross-functional and regional management teams on strategic projects, bringing timely and useful insight and analytical support
  • Communicate recommendations to senior management, other executive, functional, or regional staff and management in a clear, concise and impactful way, in both written and oral formats
  • Provide continuous coaching, training, and mentoring to strategy teams​
