What you'll do...

Walmart Global Tech India is seeking a seasoned Lead Accessibility Specialist to join the UX Design team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with leadership to drive accessibility initiatives and implement programs that shape the next generation of e-commerce products, services, and solutions.
The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of technical expertise, analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, leadership, and interpersonal skills to ensure Walmart’s e-commerce platforms and internal applications meet web accessibility standards and regulations.


As a trusted accessibility partner, you will work alongside Design, Product Management, Program Management, and Engineering teams to support the timely release of features and products that are born accessible. Beyond compliance, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the organization's accessibility maturity index by fostering awareness, promoting a culture of inclusion, and building accessibility capabilities across teams.

What will you do:

  • Evaluates complex product features and workflows for accessibility barriers, including issues related to language, color usage, and usability for people with disabilities. Develops and implements innovative accessibility solutions to address business challenges.
  • Analyzes accessibility data to identify trends, report on key issues, and drive improvements in product features and user experiences.
  • Designs and delivers training programs based on research and data insights, ensuring cross-functional teams understand accessibility best practices and implementation strategies.
  • Provides expert guidance to accessibility SMEs and cross-functional partners on Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), user testing, and compliance assessments.
  • Collaborates with designers and developers to ensure accessibility is integrated into early design decisions and pre-development technical planning.
  • Works closely with product managers, designers, and technical program managers to ensure features and products meet accessibility standards and best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Identifies and implements process improvements based on accessibility data insights, streamlining frameworks to enhance efficiency across design, development, and testing efforts.
  • Develops and integrates automated tools, scalable frameworks, and best practices to make accessibility measurable, repeatable, and efficient within the development process.
  • Creates and maintains dashboards to track and report on accessibility metrics, driving accountability and progress.
  • Stays informed on evolving accessibility standards, regulations, and industry trends, leveraging data-driven insights to shape internal policies and strategies. Represents the company in accessibility communities and industry initiatives.

What You’ll bring

  • A bachelor’s or higher degree in the field of Computer Science/ User Experience Design (human-computer interaction/interaction design) or in a related field.
  • 10+ years of overall industry experience in accessibility program management, digital accessibility, UX/UI design, or front-end development.
  • Proven track record of leading accessibility initiatives at scale.
  • Deep understanding of WCAG 2.1/2.2, ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications), and assistive technologies.
  • Experience implementing accessibility in complex digital ecosystems, including web, mobile, and emerging technologies.
  • Strong technical knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks such as React or Angular.
  • Basic proficiency in design tools such as Figma.
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining scalable and accessible design systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data to inform strategy, training effectiveness, and advocacy initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to drive cultural change.
  • Experience optimizing workflows and implementing scalable accessibility solutions.
  • Experience with defect management and project management tools such as Jira, Confluence.
  • Strong experience working in an agile framework.
  • Ability to mentor and support peers in accessibility best practices and inclusive design principles as well as other areas such as stakeholder management.

Good to have:

  • Experience working in an eCommerce or B2C digital product environment.
  • Certification in accessibility (e.g., CPACC, WAS, CPWA).
