Lead UX Designer

We are 3PILLAR GLOBAL

We build breakthrough software products that power digital businesses. We are an innovative product development partner whose solutions drive rapid revenue, market share, and customer growth for industry leaders in Software and SaaS, Media and Publishing, Information Services, and Retail.

Our key differentiator is our Product Mindset. Our development teams focus on building for outcomes and all of our team members around the globe are trained on the Product Mindset’s core values – Minimize Time to Value, Solve For Need, and Excel at Change. Our teams apply this mindset to build digital products that are customer-facing and revenue-generating. Our business-minded approach to agile development ensures that we align to client goals from the earliest conceptual stages through market launch and beyond.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • We are looking for a resourceful and empathetic individual who can lead a team of designers towards achieving the client’s goals. The Lead UX Designer will join a cohort of talented consultants who are able to drive a project from inception to delivery. As a lead, this individual will need to assemble team members, provide vision, delegate goals, and align work products.

  • EXPERTISE. As a Lead UX Designer, we expect you to have a deep understanding of user research, interaction design, information architecture, visual design, and digital product development.

  • UX LEADERSHIP. As UX Lead, you’ll own the UX effort for a client engagement. You’ll plan it, define what needs to be done and in what sequence, set checkpoints, and lead the design reviews with clients. You’ll also serve as primary UX POC for other teams (Product, Engineering) on the engagement.

  • PLAYER-COACH. Leading a team of designers on a single or multiple projects is more than just effectively delegating tasks. Get ready to be a player-coach to guarantee project success while helping your team members grow in their own craft. You’ll guide their work, set priorities, review and (constructively) critique their designs to produce an outstanding user experience for the product.

  • CLIENT INTERACTION. As a Lead UX Designer, you’ll be expected to set and manage expectations with clients, identify key advocates (or detractors), and work with fellow team members to plan strategic actions. You’ll own much, perhaps most, of the communication between UX and client stakeholders. You will have a solid grasp of our clients’ business objectives and ensure that our designs are aligned with them.

  • CONSULTATIVE. We like to use our brains as well as our hands when we design, and take a consultative approach to our work. We feel this is how we can deliver the greatest value to our clients, but it’s a fine art. Guiding discussions, recommending alternative approaches while respecting our clients’ expertise is an essential skill for this role.

  • CRAFT. As a Lead UX Designer, you’ll still be in the trenches and getting your hands dirty, so be ready to bring your UX skills to the table. We expect you to understand the three UX disciplines at 3Pillar (user research, interaction design, and visual design), and be very good at executing any two of them.

  • COLLABORATION. At 3Pillar Global, User Experience and Product Management work hand-in-hand with Development. We expect you to be able to function effectively as part of this integrated team.

  • PRACTICE. As a Lead UX Designer, you’ll have an excellent opportunity to contribute not just to particular engagements, but to the UX Practice as a whole. This could take the form of leading a training workshop, writing articles, recording podcasts, or mentoring other designers. We do strive to strike a sustainable balance between these efforts and our client-facing work.

REQUIREMENTS
  • 6+ years of experience designing B2C and/or B2B applications in an Agile environment.
  • Well-versed in conducting or applying user research, mapping and visualizing current state experiences, identifying key opportunities, design thinking & brainstorming.
  • Can comfortably facilitate workshops (sketching, feature prioritization, card sorting, etc), and produce low-to-high fidelity wireframes by laying out research-informed information architecture.
  • Able to build wireframes and prototypes for testing and final delivery to development teams or directly to clients.
  • Proficient in Sketch App, Figma, Adobe Xd, Axure, or other design tools.
  • Able to work closely with the product team, other designers, stakeholders, and users to dive deeply into user journeys to identify problems, re-frame into opportunities, and co-create highest value needs.
  • A portfolio that highlights strong experience designing across products, platforms and personas.
  • Provide delegation, guidance, and coaching to a team of designers towards a common goal.
  • Exceptional storytelling capabilities; an ability to weave key insights and data into a compelling narrative.
  • Ability to advocate the value of Design, and inspire partners and teammates through elegant presentation and storytelling capabilities.
  • Advocate for the user internally and externally while balancing business and technology constraints.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process.
  • Possess a strong sense of interaction and visual design principles.
