Job Description

The Associate Director, Business Relationship Management – Medical Affairs + Health Impact is responsible for partnering with the Medical Affairs Business (OUS and US) to translate business goals into technology strategies to create successful programs for the Medical Affairs portfolio of Therapeutic area (TA) tools and customer relationship management (CRM) tools. Medical Affairs is a diverse organization working to strengthen their contributions to Pipeline Agility and Lifecycle Management, capitalizing on their clinical advocacy across geographies.  It is a fast-paced and dynamic area for AbbVie. The Associate Director, Business Relationship Management should be able to provide excellent internal customer support and customer satisfaction while driving the technology strategies for Medical Field Teams focusing on strategies for TA tools as well as CRM enablement.

The Associate Director, Business Relationship Management, will define the capabilities needed to implement the business and technical strategy. This role will prioritize the identified programs, manage financials, work with Medical TAs and Med Engagement to deliver the solutions, and provide continuous program and project support. The Associate Director, Business Relationship Management will be responsible for all aspects of stakeholder management within Medical Field Excellence and will partner with other areas to ensure capacity and alignment across all technology programs for Medical Affairs.  This role will build and maintain relationships with Medical Affairs Operations, Medical Area and TA VPs and Medical Directors.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the delivery of products and capabilities to support and grow the capabilities of the TA and CRM for Medical Affairs.
  • Active engagement of business partners throughout the various program and project implementations.
  • Act as a single point of contact for all Business Technology Solutions delivery associated with the Medical Field Excellence technology strategy and tools.
  • Governance and prioritization of the investment processes and ownership of the Medical Affairs financial portfolio in partnership with others.
  • Establishment of delivery strategy, technology vision and execution of project roadmaps.
  • Proactive management with business stakeholders on the capabilities and benefits of different technologies to constantly improve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Maintain and continue to improve analytics strategy for Medical Field Excellence globally.
  • Responsible for building a positive team culture and supporting an open and inclusive environment to bring different perspectives to solve the problems.
  • Significant experience and success in working in a business centric, complex, progressive, multi-stakeholder, matrix environment, with at least five in a product development role.  
  • Innovative - keep up with latest technology and trends. Experience in digital product development or digital transformation. Proven success in implementing digital and innovative solutions.
  • Responsible for compliance by following all the corporate and divisional policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with 9 years’ experience, Master's Degree with 8 years’ experience, or PhD with 4 years’ experience.
  • Required experience with orchestrating solutions against these types of platforms: Data Cloud, CRM, Omni-Channel, Clinical Trial/Study Platforms, Websites, Analytics
  • Experience working in a pharmaceutical environment with experience working with a medical affairs, brand teams (marketing or commercial) or commercial.
  • Worked with organizations to help in developing and implementing an omnichannel strategy for pharmaceutical products.
  • Collaborated with cross-functional teams to leverage similar omnichannel tools where applicable. 
  • Implemented solutions to deliver scientific content across various channels.
  • Supported solutions to develop and manage medical content for digital channels including websites, social media, and email marketing.
  • Proven ability to drive outstanding performance and engagement through coaching, developing, motivating, and inspiring team members.
  • Good communication skills, ability to clearly articulate, ask practical questions and communicate persuasively with different audiences.
  • Well-versed with the development methodologies like Waterfall, Agile, and DevOps.
  • Experience managing portfolio budgets of at least $2 MM.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams of at least 8-10 people with a resource mix of managers, employees, matrixed teams, virtual teams, contractors, and service providers.
  • Strong people management skill e.g., leadership skills, communication, coaching.
  • Strong organizational skills with Multitasking capabilities.
  • Innovative - keep up with latest technology and trends. Experience in digital product development or digital transformation. Proven success in implementing digital and innovative solutions.
  • Extensive experience working with remote teams, and with vendor resources. Experience in high performing matrix environment and collaboration \ Global organizations. Proven track record of leading and organizing cross-functional project teams and working across organizational boundaries.
  • Knowledge of business process mapping, and diverse systems environments; with knowledge of data warehousing and analytics.
