Alma is hiring the best software engineer in the world to join our world-class engineering team. Every new hire is going to raise the bar and that’s how we are able to deliver the best AI native product ever seen in legal tech space.

Our entire team works between 9 am and 8 pm Pacific Time and 5 days a week. We try to leave the weekend to our team to recharge and spend time with their family.

🧠 Founding Team

The founding team has an extensive background in the legal industry, consulting, and building ML platforms.

  • Shuo - CTO & Cofounder: Shuo built the ML Platform (Michelangelo) at Uber for 5+ years after which he was the head of AI & ML team at a SupportLogic (a series B startup using predictive & generative AI for customer support).

  • Aizada - CEO & Cofounder: Aizada is a graduate of Harvard Law School, an attorney with 7+ years of experience including working at a top law firm such as Cooley and an ex-McKinsey consultant.

  • Assel - CPO & Cofounder: Assel is a graduate of Harvard Business School and has 7 years of experience building products at FinTechs such as SoFi and Step and at large financial institutions when working at Ernst & Young.

🔍 What we're looking for

We are looking for a highly-skilled and ambitious frontend engineer with 5+ years of developing web applications who is super pumped about building AI native products to make immigration easy. You will own the products end-to-end and solve the hard problems. We need you to be in the 99th percentile of having a “can-do” attitude.

✅ Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the founding team to implement ALMA web applications.

  • Translate UI/UX designs and wireframes into high-quality code, producing visual elements of the product.

  • Develop and maintain all aspects of our web applications, ensuring high performance and seamless integration with our backend.

  • Evaluate and leverage advanced JavaScript/Typescript libraries and frameworks.

  • Build reusable code/components/libraries for future use.

  • Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge.

🛠 Role Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience as a frontend engineer with a proven track record.

  • Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5 and CSS3.

  • We use React.js and Next.js and deploy the app through Vercel and expect you to have advanced knowledge of them.

  • Familiarity with server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS.

  • Experience with CI/CD workflows such as Github actions and CircleCI

  • Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.

  • Knowledge of package manager such as Yarn or NPM and module bundler such as Webpack.

  • Proficient on translating a product design into technical design and UI implementation

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and enjoy the start-up culture

  • BS/MS in Computer Science

  • If you are located in bay area, we would love to see you in office several days a week. Otherwise, we will see you over zoom.

  • Experience with design and implement data modeling and APIs.

  • Experience working in a small startup environment (Seed or Series A).

  • Experience working with LLMs such as GPTs, Claude or open source LLMs.
