Designer, Sweaters (Fashion Background Required)

Position: Sweater Designer – BCI Brands

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop tech design packs to request prototype samples
  • Ensures sample yarns are ordered, dyed, and lab-dipped to create showroom samples for the sales team
  • Sources appropriate yarn qualities
  • Create layouts for patterns, stitches, and garment construction as needed
  • Manages the yarn library, swatches, and organizational needs alongside an assistant
  • Mentors and leads assistant-level designers, helping to cultivate the next generation of design talent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the sweater design industry
  • Exhibits a strong work ethic, leadership skills, high energy level, organizational abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrates strong technical knowledge in sweater making, including expertise in yarn qualities, sizes, knitting techniques, and stitches.
  • Comprehends fully fashioned sweater construction and fit
  • Exhibits strong illustrative skills for technical flats
  • Proficiency in Excel, Illustrator, and Photoshop, with Procreate being an asset.
  • Capable of multitasking and working cross-functionally with multiple teams.
  • Able to work independently and as a team player 
  • Capable of effective correspondence with overseas factories

The salary range for this full-time position ranges from $80,000-$100,000, depending on applicant's level of experience.
