About This Role:

As the Lead, Health Equity & Clinical Innovation in Drug Development, you will play a pivotal role in fostering inclusivity and bridging gaps within our drug development processes. This Director level position will be a strategic ally and supporter of the Head of Health Equity for Drug Development, with the primary mission of embedding health equity principles into every facet of our drug development lifecycle. Your leadership will drive the integration of these principles in high-stakes decision-making and influence the development of a more equitable framework that benefits our diverse communities. Your role will be critical in leading the creation of community feedback mechanisms that directly influence and enhance our drug development strategies. Operating in a highly collaborative environment, you will be instrumental in establishing and nurturing partnerships across multiple levels, both internal and external. With up to 25% travel, your influence will extend beyond the company, as you build relationships, activate communities, and represent Biogen’s commitment to health equity on a broader scale.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Framework Application: Provide expert guidance to cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of the health equity framework into drug development decision-making.
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with diverse stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and community organizations.
  • Community Engagement: Spearhead community engagement efforts, focusing on creating real-time, actionable insights and supporting prelaunch initiatives in key disease areas.
  • Patient + Caregiver Insights Integration: Formulate strategies to incorporate patient and caregiver perspectives into drug development, influencing protocol design and assessments.
  • Training and Knowledge Building: Mentor drug development teams to deepen their understanding and application of health equity principles.
  • Data and Measurement Systems: Develop and manage systems to monitor and report on the impact of health equity initiatives within drug development.

 

This position is open to remote talent within the United States. Must be willing to travel domestically up to 25% of time.

    Required Skills:

    • Advanced degree (MPH, MPA, MD, PhD, or equivalent) in public health, clinical research, biomedical sciences, or related field.
    • Minimum of 12 years (12+) of senior-level experience in public health, drug development, clinical research, or similar fields.
    • Demonstrated expertise in health equity, with a proven track record of integrating equity principles into complex organizational processes.
    • Strong experience in relationship management and building effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders at various levels.
    • In-depth knowledge of drug development processes and regulatory frameworks.
    • Proven community engagement experience, with the ability to design and implement impactful initiatives.
    • Exceptional communication skills and executive presence, with a history of representing organizations in external forums.

    Additional Information

    The base salary range for this position is $194,000 - $267,000. Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.

    Regular employees are eligible to receive both short term and long-term incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed to reward recent achievements and recognize your future potential based on individual, business unit and company performance.
