Brown & Brown is Seeking an Employee Benefits Account Manager to join our growing team in Seattle, WA.

The primary responsibility of an Account Manager is to provide exceptional service to our customers by establishing realistic customer expectations, seeking customer input, and meeting service commitments in a professional and punctual manner. Account Managers are the main point of contact for customers regarding request for proposals, new business, renewal activities and general customer support.

How You Will Contribute

  • Responsible for new business and renewal process from start to finish including but not limited to: responding to requests for proposals, quote tracking, sales follow-up, pre-renewal analysis, renewal analysis and renewal negotiations   
  • Build strong relationships and provide customer centric solutions using speed and agility
  • Work with external brokerage community to support needs of existing and prospective customers
  • Work directly with underwriting to ensure completeness and accuracy in data needed for all risk evaluation
  • Manage new customer on-boarding process
  • Liaise with external carriers, vendors and business partners
  • Maintain internal database and prepare reporting as requested
  • Advise and direct clients on claims issues, administration, benefit plans and federal/state laws such as: COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ERISA etc.
  • Ensure appropriate activities are logged and documentation filed in Benefit Account Management (BAM).
  • Follow all B&B Internal Operations (audit) practices for each customer
  • Review carrier certificates/policies/SPDs for accuracy, complete contract review checklist and file appropriately in BAM before sending final versions to customers
  • Other duties or special projects may be assigned
  • Promote teamwork within department and profit center through support, knowledge sharing and a positive attitude.
  • Attend training sessions, courses, etc. to maintain up-to-date skills and licensing requirements
  • Duties are done independently or in a team environment

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must obtain Life & Health Insurance License for required states within three (3) months & keep current

Skills & Experience to Be Successful

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) with three (3) years of experience in the field of Employee Benefits Administration or high school graduate with a minimum of five (5) years of related experience, other combination of work and/or education will be considered
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of group health and welfare benefit plan coverage, current legislation, rules, laws, and other regulations.  Insurance plans, underwriting principals, selection, pricing, rating, and premium calculation
  • Familiarity with complex benefit issues to serve as the key contact for customers to resolve them
  • Fluent with Microsoft Windows, Office 365, Word, and Excel
  • Exceptional telephone demeanor
  • Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality

Pay Range

$33.65 - $39.66 Hourly

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
