Responsibilities

 

Technical Editor/Writer

  • Assists in collecting and organizing information required for preparation of technical documents, white papers, user's manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports.
  • Edits functional descriptions, system specifications, technical documents, white papers, user's manuals, special reports, or any other customer deliverables and documents.
  • Possesses expertise with formatting tools in common word processing applications.
  • Must be capable of writing, rewriting, and editing reports, articles, software documentation for information technology systems following DoD regulations, and new releases of technical material.
  • Must be capable of applying audio/visual communications techniques to scientific subject matter.

 

  • Analyzes requirements of project to determine types, ontent, and format of publications needed
  • Coordinates layout and design of documents; works on all phases
  • Responsible for preparation, review, revision, and maintenance of contract deliverable documentation, meeting agendas and minutes, and weekly and monthly project status reports
  • Following established procedures and formats, researches and compiles technical data for use in routine documents or sections of documents such as manuals, procedures and specifications
  • Obtains data and information from review of documentation, drawings, schematics and reports, consultation with technical staff members and study of published material
  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of contractual deliverable documentation
  • Ensures adherence to specifications
  • Maintains a current internal documentation library
  • Uses mutliple word processing and presentation tools such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Visio, etc.
  • Understands basic writing and presentation concepts (to include basic grammar concepts)
  • Works under immediate supervision; typically reports to a project manager
  • Interaces with team members, leadership, and customers and participates in project activities

 

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience in journalism or related experience in the area of written communication and 3 years of specialized experience in information technology documentation.
  • Overall 5 years minimum related experience
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to work within deadlines to exacting standards required
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, and Teams

This position requires the ability to perform the below essential functions:

  • Sitting for long periods
  • Ambulate throughout an office
