As a Salesforce Technical Architect, Marketing Cloud at Horizontal Digital, you will manage, develop, and implement technology solutions for clients. The SFMC Technical Architect is a critical role for the Marketing Automation team and will lead the development of our Marketing Cloud and related platform projects.

We’re looking for a digital technology expert who is comfortable leading as a player/coach. In this role you will manage developer resources and work side-by-side with project teams as an active participant defining requirements, shaping technical solutions, and taking a hands-on approach to implementation and ensure quality assurance. You will work across multiple projects with a diverse team consisting of a mix of functional consultants, front and backend developers, digital strategists, project managers, and the UX/creative team. Your goal is to guide a team to produce great work, expand our technical capabilities, and help clients meet digital objectives.  Other team members will look to you to provide definitive answers to complex questions regarding the Salesforce Marketing Cloud platform and ecosystem products.

What you’ll do: 

  • Provides leadership and guidance on all technical aspects of the Salesforce Marketing Cloud platform implementations and functionality.
  • Work with functional and business clients to determine solutions that drive additional business value.
  • Deploy and maintain integrations as part of long-term client relationships.
  • Work with Salesforce Marketing Cloud product suite including: Engagement (formerly Email Studio and associated apps, Personalization (formerly Interaction Studio), Intelligence (formerly Datorama), Data Cloud (formerly Salesforce CDP), Account Engagement (formerly Pardot), and cross-platform applications such as Marketing Cloud Connect and Distributed Marketing.
  • Make architectural technology decisions related to the Salesforce Marketing Cloud environment.
  • Create technical specifications and providing analysis between current and future states.
  • Clearly articulate and provide technical subject matter expertise to both customers and internal project teams.
  • Conduct technical requirements gathering, review, and architecture sessions and translate business requirements into SFMC software design appropriate for the client needs.
  • Establishes and evolves best practices for the development efforts within the Salesforce Marketing Cloud platform for the Horizontal Marketing Automation team.
  • Work creatively and analytically with clients to understand business needs and create technical solutions in a problem-solving environment.
  • Develop solutions for fit and scalability, while ensuring that they confirm to long-term strategic priorities.
  • Evolve and shape the strategy, architecture, platform, and standards for the integration team.
  • Specify and publish standards around API’s.
  • Assist with pre-sales activities as requested.
  • Responsible for staying current with rapidly developing Salesforce Marketing Cloud platform suite and ecosystem technology features and capabilities.
  • Create, manage and present an actionable BRD/FSD (Blueprint) that aligns a client’s business needs to that of the Salesforce Marketing Cloud solutions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Who you are: 

  • Able to work closely with clients to define and derive technical solutions and effectively communicate and present the design, positive impacts, and limitations of proposed solutions to customers.
  • Able to guide the Development team and coach, mentor and develop junior resources.
  • Has a thorough understanding of Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement  Deployment/Physical architecture and experienced at working with APIs – SOAP and REST based APIs.
  • Results driven technology professional with strong analytical, design, and problem-solving skills, with ability to troubleshoot and come up with creative solutions.
  • Has a growth mindset with the desire to work in a collaborative environment to promote and drive team performance and negotiate solutions to complex scenarios with multiple parties and agendas.
  • Has a high level of intrinsic motivation, are a self-starter, excellent at follow-up, and a team-player with ability to deliver within defined timelines.
  • Detail-oriented and gets the details right in all work products and communications. 
  • Professional in all spoken and written communications and interactions with all internal and external conversations.
  • Can hit the ground running, being able to get up to speed on an account or project quickly.
  • Ideal candidates will be certified in the following Salesforce Certifications: Administrator, Consultant, Developer, and Email Specialist.
  • Certified Data Cloud Consultant certification preferred.

What you bring: 

  • Experience at designing and implementing a Salesforce Marketing Cloud project’s technical architecture.
  • Experience defining the structure of the system, its interfaces, and the principles that guide the client.
  • Strong skills in system documentation (ERD’s, process flows, etc).
  • 8+ years of client-facing consulting/professional services experience.
  • 5+ years of full lifecycle implementation experience using SDLC methodologies, including both Waterfall and Agile
  • 5+ years of technology design, refinement, and implementing MarTech solutions with an emphasis on Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Experience working within cross-functional project teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Hands on experience with cross-channel communications developing in all modules of Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement including but not limited to: Email Studio, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Content Builder and Contact Builder.
  • Understanding of Marketing Automation, Data Governance, Security and Compliance best practices.
  • Prior experience working in areas of integration technology and driving new points of view and capabilities.
  • General understanding of other Salesforce solutions (Sales & Service Cloud, Commerce Cloud, Customer 360, Tableau, Mulesoft).
  • Experience with coding, testing, debugging, implementing, and documenting complex integrations.
  • Solid knowledge of: AMPScript, JavaScript, SSJS, HTML, CSS, SQL
  • Understanding of Data Cloud and Personalization preferred. 
  • Additional certifications in any of the following Salesforce Certifications is a plus: Pardot Consultant / Specialist, Advanced Salesforce Administrator, Sales Cloud Consultant, Salesforce User Experience (UX) Designer Certification.
