Tamber is an AI-powered assistant built for musicians, designed to streamline workflows and enhance creativity by handling repetitive tasks. We believe AI should assist artists—not replace them—allowing musicians to focus on making music instead of getting lost in technical processes. Tamber helps with everything from songwriting and arrangement to production, DAW control, and intelligent music discovery.
Built by musicians, for musicians, Tamber lowers the barrier to entry for new artists while giving professionals the tools to work faster, stay inspired, and maintain complete creative control.
Tamber is hiring an AI/ML Engineer to design, build, and optimize the machine learning models that power our music analysis, gestural recognition, and intelligent discovery features. This is not just a fine-tuning role—we’re looking for someone who thrives on building and experimenting.
You will be responsible for developing new architectures, training models, optimizing inference performance, and deploying AI-driven experiences that enable real-time, interactive music creation and discovery. Your work will span vector models, LoRA-fied RAG models, multimodal AI, and gestural recognition (hand tracking and face identification).
This is a hands-on engineering role that requires strong coding skills and the ability to write production-quality ML code, submit pull requests, and work within Tamber’s core repositories.
You’ll work closely with Tamber’s engineering and product teams to develop AI models that fundamentally change how musicians create, interact, and discover music. This is a chance to work at the cutting edge of music, AI, and human-computer interaction, solving complex problems at the intersection of sound, creativity, and machine intelligence.
Architect, train, and deploy large-scale machine learning models for music analysis, discovery, and AI-assisted workflows.
Develop and optimize vector models and LoRA-fied RAG models for efficient music-related AI applications.
Work on gesture recognition models for intuitive music control (e.g., hand tracking, facial identification for personalized interactions).
Work on AI-driven music discovery models, enabling search through audio, MIDI, lyrics, and abstract emotional descriptors.
Design robust training pipelines for audio and MIDI-based AI models.
Ensure seamless integration of AI models with Tamber’s backend and frontend systems.
Write high-quality, scalable code and contribute to the core repositories (Git, CI/CD workflows, and production-ready model deployment).
Optimize inference times and memory usage to ensure real-time performance across different devices.
Research and implement the latest advancements in AI for music, keeping Tamber at the forefront of innovation.
3+ years of hands-on experience developing machine learning models for production.
Strong Python skills, including experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
Experience with vector models and LoRA-fied RAG models for efficient retrieval and processing.
Expertise in audio files, MIDI processing, and signal processing techniques.
Familiarity with gestural recognition, hand tracking, and face identification models.
Experience with multimodal AI models (text + audio + vision).
Strong engineering fundamentals—ability to write production-grade ML code, work with Git, and follow best practices in model deployment.
Ability to work independently and own complex AI features from research to production deployment.
A deep passion for music and technology, with an understanding of music structure, DAWs, or composition.
Bonus Points
Experience with real-time inference optimizations (ONNX, TensorRT, quantization).
Knowledge of generative AI models (transformers, diffusion models).
Background in AI-driven music production or creative software.
Familiarity with OpenCV for gesture recognition enhancements.
Strong grasp of how musicians work, with experience in a DAW or music production.
