Who We Are :Since 1906, New Balance has empowered people through sport and craftsmanship to create positive change in communities around the world.We innovate fearlessly, guided by our core values and driven by the belief that conventions were meant to be challenged.We foster a culture in which every associate feels welcomed and respected, where leaders and creatives are inspired to shape the world of tomorrow by taking bold action today.At New Balance, We Got Now.JOB MISSION :New Balance is looking for a Senior Robotics Engineer to join our Manufacturing Innovation team introducing new automation and robotics technologies to New Balance domestic manufacturing facilities with the goal of strengthening US manufacturing as a competitive advantage.You will be an integral part of New Balance’s mission to implement automation, robotics, IIoT and AI technologies to solve problems, create new capabilities, improve processes, reduce cost, improve safety and enhance domestic manufacturing.In this role, you will work closely with a cross functional team from Manufacturing, IT, and Product to analyze new advanced manufacturing trends and technologies, identify opportunities, evaluate solutions, experiment, implement and then transfer the solutions across all our factories.The ideal candidate will have a background in software engineering, automation, and robotics. They will demonstrate a go-getter attitude to problem solving and be comfortable working in a fast-paced R&D environment.Candidate will need to visit our R&D lab in the Brighton area three times a week, with occasional travel to our factories in the Lawrence / Methuen area.MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES :• Collaborate with the manufacturing team to understand their needs and problems and work with the R&D team to propose solutions• Design and code custom solutions using open source and cloud services, in collaboration with other engineers on the team (mechanical, electrical)• Research new technologies, execute technical proof of concepts, and provide technology recommendations• Evaluate vendor solutions from a software perspective for architectural qualities such as maintainability, security, performance, scalability, observability, ease of integration and long-term sustainability• Assist the transfer of solutions from R&D to Operations and support them during the initial stagesREQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS :• Degree in Computer Science or related discipline with 7+ years of experience in robotics with some background in integrating Computer Vision solutions with robotics and coding robotic solutions in Python• Experience with both traditional computer vision algorithm development with OpenCV, as well as either PyTorch or TensorFlow for deep learning• Experience in Linux software development• Experience designing RESTful APIs and in API based integrations• Fluent in Python programming language• Exposure to cloud platforms, preferably Azure• Experience working in an Agile Scrum) environment with a passion for supporting and enabling others to become more productive.Regular Associate BenefitsOur products are only as good as the people we hire, so we make sure to hire the best and treat them accordingly.
