Together, we’re working at the pace of change to improve patient lives with diagnostic tools that address the world’s biggest health challenges.The Hardware Engineering Intern for Leica Biosystems is involved in the design and release of a series of sustainment and value-added value engineering (VAVE) projects for cost reduction, reliability improvement or other general sustainment projects related to Leica Biosystem’s product line of Aperio Whole Slide Imaging ScannersThis position is part of the Digital Pathology Business Unit located in Vista, CA and will be on-site. If you thrive in a fast paced, collaborative environment and want to work to build a world-class organization—read on.In this role, you will have the opportunity to:• Performing system-level testing to produce data for use within design of experiments• Work with engineering team on various tasks, including but not limited to, machining, electronics, programming, verification & validation and system-level design and troubleshooting• Update or refine engineering drawings or processes with the guidance of senior engineersThe essential requirements of the job include:• Working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, System Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or similar.It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:• Some experience with CAD technologies, like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar• Experience working with complex electromechanical systems• Excellent written and verbal communications skills• Extreme comfort with typical Windows programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc). Bonus points for familiarity with Linux / Unix computer environments.The salary range OR the hourly range for this role is $25 - $35. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
