Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Equipment Engineer to support our teams in Lowell and Lawrence, MA. The Equipment Engineer will repair, upgrade, and maintain wafer fabrication related manufacturing equipment. This candidate will also select, order, and expedite equipment and parts that are most appropriate and cost effective for maintenance of production equipment. In addition, the candidate will be required to study equipment performance and reliability and help establish programs and solutions for decreasing down-time for equipment problems that affect the manufacturing process.


Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Partner with Equipment Engineers and Technicians in the day-to-day support of wafer fab equipment according to production priorities.
  • Participates in equipment selection, configuration, installation, and performance monitoring for new equipment purchases and relocations.
  • Propose and manage budgets for equipment repair expenses, spare parts purchases and stocking levels and implement approved cost reduction measures.
  • Work with EHS department to ensure all equipment installations, maintenance and operation are compliant with all safety and environmental policies and regulations.
  • Collaborate with process engineers to optimize equipment settings and parameters for improved yield and quality.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and procedures to extend equipment life and reduce unexpected failures.
  • Provide technical support and training to production staff on proper equipment operation and maintenance practices.
  • Work with equipment vendors and suppliers to resolve technical issues and coordinate equipment upgrades and installations.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and performance metrics.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes and reduce costs.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (e.g., mechanical, electrical, industrial, or a related field)
  • 2-5 years of relevant engineering experience, often in equipment design, maintenance, or manufacturing.
  • Experience with semiconductor manufacturing equipment preferred.
  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD or SolidWorks, simulation software, etc.).
  • Knowledge of equipment design principles, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to equipment safety and performance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
