Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno Research and Innovation, is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 4 to support the University’s Innevation Center ** This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. ** The Administrative Assistant 4 plays a pivotal role in the success of the Innevation Center by providing executive-level support to the leadership and operational staff of the Innevation Center and all the exciting initiatives and services the Innevation Center has to offer the community as well as the University. The Administrative Assistant 4 will have a high level of interaction with potential and existing Innevation Center members, affiliated companies, campus community members, students, and student workers.

The Innevation Center is located south of the University campus and offers a collaborative space created to stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship in both the University and local business community. Our 25,000 square foot, 4-story building in downtown Reno provides a co-working space, office space, event facilities, meeting rooms, and a top-tier Makerspace. We are open to local businesses, entrepreneurs, and the community, alongside students, faculty, and staff at the University of Nevada, Reno. We are committed to growing a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem in Northern Nevada and expanding our culture of innovation.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Manage social media platforms

  • Create monthly content plans for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube

  • Provide fiscal and HR support, including financial reports and budget management

  • Coordinate events from booking to payment completion

  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, prepare correspondence

  • Supervise student workers, including hiring and training

  • Provide technical and logistical support for members

  • Plan and execute outreach projects

  • Triage complaints and grievances, take appropriate action and document

  • Cover high-profile events at Innevation Center and K-12 Robotics Center

  • Create monthly newsletters, redesign website sections, and design graphics/flyers

  • Compose various documents and maintain filing systems

  • Submit and follow-up on repair/maintenance requests


PER EXECUTIVE ORDER 2024-007 

ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN WAIVED FOR THIS POSITION UNTIL JUNE 30, 2025. Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; performing secretarial duties in support of a manager; coordinating communications between the manager, staff and program clientele; supervision of subordinate staff; researching information from internal and external sources; OR

  • One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Schedule

The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.

Compensation Grade

Grade 29 – (Entry, Step 01 $24.02/hr. – Step 03 $26.07/hr.)

In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
