Purchasing and Inventory Coordinator
Job Summary:
The Purchasing and Inventory Coordinator will be responsible for managing the company's purchasing and inventory activities, ensuring that inventory levels are maintained and orders are placed in a timely and cost-effective manner. The coordinator will collaborate closely with various departments within the company to ensure that inventory levels align with production requirements. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and strong analytical abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
· Manage the parts purchasing process for heavy equipment, trucks, yard supplies, and tools by identifying the most cost-effective suppliers, negotiating prices, and placing orders for raw materials, finished goods, and supplies.
· Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers to ensure that the facility receives the best possible service.
· Monitor and maintain inventory levels by reviewing daily and weekly inventory reports and coordinating with relevant departments to ensure that stock levels are maintained at optimal levels.
· Review and analyze inventory levels to identify slow-moving items and potential stock shortages, and take appropriate action to ensure that stock levels are maintained to meet production demand.
· Determine if inventory quantities are sufficient to meet needs, and order additional parts and supplies as needed.
· Communicate lead times and/or ETA for all ordered parts.
· Check back-ordered parts weekly and communicate ETA when necessary.
· Prepare and issue purchase orders.
· Coordinate with the accounting department for payment of orders
· Compare prices, specifications, and delivery dates to determine the best bid among potential suppliers.
· Check shipments upon arrival to ensure that orders have been filled correctly and that the goods meet specifications.
· Process receipt of goods in the inventory management software.
· Process work orders in the maintenance system.
· Enter daily inspections into the system.
· Create and maintain an organized and labeled inventory system.
Requirements:
· Experience in inventory management and purchasing for heavy equipment & trucks preferred.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
· Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
· Computer proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office.
· Ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
· Knowledge of inventory control principles and supply chain management.
· Proven experience in developing inventory and organization systems.
