We are starting up a new line of business focused on “moving up the stack” from our heartland developers and engineers to the next level of decision makers and tech leaders. We aim to create invaluable content for tech leaders and decision makers that enables them to make better decisions faster. Our theory is that case studies are a core component of this, showcasing real-world solutions that provide actionable insights for tech leaders to apply to their own business challenges. The initial focus of this initiative will be businesses implementing Generative AI solutions.

Role Overview 

As a Business Journalist at TechLeader (Packt), you will play a critical role in creating high-quality, in-depth technical case studies for our audience. You’ll serve as our lead researcher, interviewer, and writer—transforming complex interviews with top tech decision-makers into comprehensive narratives that reveal real-world strategies and outcomes. This role demands a rigorous writing approach that can handle complexity and sustain intellectual depth over long, detailed narratives. 

Your work will directly help decision-makers—including CTOs, CIOs, Chief AI Officers, and VPs of Engineering—quickly grasp complex insights and apply them to their business challenges. 

What You Will Do 

In this role, you will manage the entire lifecycle of technical case study production—from identifying and sourcing potential subjects to researching, interviewing, and writing detailed narratives that deliver actionable insights. Your contributions will help shape a robust content pipeline that informs and empowers tech leaders. 

  • Research & Sourcing: 
    • Research and identify emerging trends to build a robust list of potential case study topics for your designated domain—be it tech, health, finance, leadership, or another focus area. 
    • Identify and acquire potential case study subjects. 
  • Interviewing & Content Development: 
    • Plan and prepare the interview scope by drafting a high-level table of contents, then conduct in-depth interviews to capture comprehensive insights. 
    • Develop cohesive case studies that clearly break down the thought process, strategic framework, key considerations, challenges, solutions, workflows, and technology stack used—presenting them in a digestible, step-by-step format. 
    • Ensure each narrative extracts actionable lessons that readers can apply in their own contexts. 
  • Quality & Integrity: 
    • Employ rigorous fact-checking and verify all data to ensure every narrative is accurate and reliable. 
    • Collaborate with tech reviewers and subject matter experts to maintain both technical accuracy and depth. 
  • Narrative Crafting & Engagement: 
    • Create detailed, intellectually rigorous narratives that provide clarity and actionable insights, rather than relying solely on storytelling techniques. 
    • Work closely with production teams to integrate visual elements that enhance and clarify complex content.  
  • Content Distribution & Feedback: 
    • Collaborate with internal teams to align on content strategy and distribution channels. 
    • Contribute ideas to refine our product taxonomy and future content formats based on audience feedback. 
  • US Networking & Engagement: 
    Engage with US contributors through 2-3 scheduled calls per week to explore potential case study opportunities.

    • Exceptional writing skills with the ability to translate complex technical and business topics into detailed, insightful narratives. We seek a candidate who can handle long, nuanced content rather than casual writing. 
  • Critical Thinking: 
    • Strong analytical abilities to sift through data, identify key decision points, and derive actionable insights. 
  • Communication: 
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to build rapport with high-level industry leaders. 
  • Adaptability: 
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.  
  • Attention to Detail: 
    • Meticulous in fact-checking and ensuring content integrity, with a keen eye for clarity and coherence. 
  • Tech Savvy: 
    • A strong grasp of emerging technologies, especially Generative AI, and an interest in staying updated on industry trends. 
  • Flexibility:  
    • Willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate interviews and collaborations with leaders across different time zones, particularly in the US, where at least 2-3 calls with US contributors are expected each week.
