RES is seeking a Regulatory Specialist II with at least 2 years of experience to support our Sacramento, CA office.
The mission: RES is operating in a unique and inspiring industry. You will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to shape RES’ West Region with your work! How? Armed with the knowledge of existing local, State, and federal regulatory processes, you will support efforts relevant to required regulatory authorizations for ecological restoration projects, including preparing permit applications and supporting documentation, and coordinating regulatory analyses and graphics with our GIS specialists.
80% of the time you will be working on permitting applications and participating in project coordination. Working with the Regional team of project managers, ecologists, engineers, construction managers, and GIS specialists, you will be drafting and compiling technical documents and reports in support of permitting applications for submittal to the relevant regulatory agencies. You will be interpreting and applying data and concepts including ecological data, cultural resource information, construction methods and protocols, compliance measures and ecosystem restoration design plans ensuring applications include project-specific details and analysis to support a complete application submittal in support of obtaining regulatory authorizations coinciding with Project milestones. Be ready to showcase your technical writing skills, as well as knowledge of data analysis and organization during the interview process!
20% of your time will be spent participating in internal team meetings – at the office and in virtual meetings, you will be participating in team meetings discussing project progress, timelines, critical path tasks, and other topics relevant to entitling and permitting restoration and/or mitigation projects.

You’ll be focused 80% of the time on preparing and submitting permit applications, working hand-in-hand with a talented regional team including project managers, ecologists, and GIS specialists. You’ll get to flex those technical writing skills and apply your knowledge of ecological data and compliance measures to ensure every application is spot on and meets the needs of regulatory agencies. The other 20% of your time will be spent in meetings where you'll collaborate with your team to discuss project progress and timelines. Have a penchant for data analysis and a knack for crafting complete permit applications? This is your chance to shine! If you have a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Ecology, or a related field and a solid understanding of environmental policy, you could be just what we need. Experience with GIS and conducting ecological assessments will definitely give you an edge, plus your existing relationships with resource agencies are a huge bonus.
