Technical Sales

RK Mission Critical provides custom-engineered modular solutions for the data and telecom industries. We’re a single source solutions provider that can handle complex and high-volume projects. Led by Rick and Jon Kinning, RK represents seven distinct lines of business that work together to provide seamless project collaboration. Position and Responsibilities Overview 
  • Provide deep technical insights into modular products, including turnkey modular data centers, UPS pods, e-houses, and electrical conveyance systems.
  • Stay updated on compliance standards and permitting process for modular programs
  • Lead the preparation of technical proposals, including understanding the project requirements & specifications, and organizing an internal proposal plan with estimating, engineering, marketing, and production.
  • Ensure the project inclusions and exclusions are clearly coordinated internally with the estimating department and externally in the customer-facing proposal
  • Deliver detailed technical presentations to customers as required for business development or to present previously submitted proposals
  • Maintain expertise on industry trends, competitor offerings, and new technologies in the modular mission-critical space, with a particular emphasis on emerging areas like AI data centers, edge computing, green energy solutions, and power infrastructure.
  • Use insights to position the company’s solutions effectively and advise customers on innovations that impact modular infrastructure.
  • Ensure a smooth transition from sales to operations, with all pertinent project information turned over to the operations team for seamless project execution.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in technical sales, business development, or pre-sales in the data center, IT infrastructure, telecommunications, or power markets. Experience with modular construction is highly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of data center and mission-critical infrastructure (power, cooling, network architecture, etc.), modular construction, and energy-efficient technologies.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., Tier ratings, Uptime Institute standards) and a strong focus on providing customers with the technical details to make informed decisions.
  • Knowledge of a data center commissioning process is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to create proposals that clearly communicate business value and technical specifics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively to offer innovative, compliant solutions tailored to customer needs across various modular product offerings.

Safety is Our Top Priority 
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.

  • RK Mechanical employees and subcontractors are required to implement and maintain all safety and health systems practices including the training requirements of RK Mechanical Orientation, shop specific orientation, CPR/First Aid/AED/Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Identification and Reporting, and OSHA 10.

Minimum Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and a variety of office equipment.  
  • Occasionally may need to reach, stoop, or kneel. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
