In this role, the Patient Services Representative schedules medical procedures and services, creates reservations, performs preadmission, registration, discharge and transfer processes. They provide excellent customer service, assists patients with financial and billing inquiries and perform collection functions.

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.

Your day-to-day tasks will include scheduling medical procedures, performing registrations, managing admissions, and being the welcoming face that greets patients as they arrive. You will assist with all aspects of their journey, from answering financial inquiries to helping resolve any billing issues with compassion and professionalism. A significant part of your role will be verifying insurance coverage and working closely with managed care companies to facilitate the authorization process for outpatient services. We need someone who is not only organized and detail-oriented but also has the ability to maintain excellent interpersonal relationships, even when challenges arise. Previous experience in a healthcare setting and a working knowledge of medical terminology will certainly give you an edge.
