Graphic Designer

The Graphic Designer will support the Creative team in producing content for the South African jurisdiction (B2C) as well as the Affiliate team (B2B). As a Graphic Designer, you will play a key role in visual storytelling and developing compelling designs across a variety of media. Your work will help shape and elevate our brand identity, ensuring consistency and high-quality visual communication across digital and print platforms.

In this role, you will collaborate with other designers, copywriters, CRM teams as well as third-party marketing and design agencies to produce innovative designs for our website, advertisements, social media, print materials, and more. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for detail, a passion for design, and the ability to translate concepts into visually striking solutions.

Responsibilities

Work with the Creative Team Lead to:

  • Create original, on-brand designs for digital and print projects, including website pages, social media graphics, ads, brochures, and branded merchandise.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand project goals and deliver design solutions that meet objectives.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all design projects and materials.
  • Collaborate on creative strategies and concepts for new campaigns and initiatives.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of quality.
  • Assist the Affiliate team in delivering content for social media, campaigns, and events, all while maintaining brand consistency.
  • Manage the organisation of design work, ensuring appropriate approvals and version control.
  • Work with in-house teams, including Designers and Copywriters, and third-party marketing and design agencies.
  • Stay updated on design trends and best practices to continuously innovate, improve designs and share insights with the team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, focusing on measuring effectiveness and learning from outcomes.
  • Ensure exceptional marketing activity that meets regulatory requirements across different jurisdictions.
  • Help build the marketing team’s reputation as a centre of excellence within Trade Nation.
  • Share and implement best practices to enhance overall team performance.
  • Support and assist colleagues to improve results.
  • Perform other supporting tasks and duties as assigned.
  • Hold either a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or a related field; have experience in a similar role; or possess a proven track record of creating first-class designs.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a variety of design work (digital, print, branding, etc.)
  • Be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.) and other relevant design software, as well as familiarity of Sketch.
  • Be proficient in Canva, CapCut as well as Social Media platforms.
  • Have experience building emails using CRM tools and creating website pages with content management systems (CMS), Prismic would be an added bonus.
  • Understand design principles, typography, colour theory, and layout techniques.
  • Be proactive, highly organised, and possess great attention to detail.
  • Work well as part of a creative, ambitious team.
  • Be willing to take responsibility for the projects you work on.
  • Demonstrate the ability to build strong relationships and support team members.
  • Be receptive to feedback to grow and deliver to a first-class standard.
  • Show genuine passion for design and all things marketing.
  • Work effectively at a fast pace with multiple concurrent projects.
  • Be comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
