Rug CAD Designer

We are looking for a detail oriented individual to apply design knowledge and problem-solving expertise. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of visual elements including layout, repeats, and color placement with the ability to manage their time in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality.

This role requires a strong work ethic, good time management skills, and communication skills.

About this Role:

The Rug CAD Designer will be working with the Holland & Sherry & Elizabeth Eakins rug design team to assist with creating and editing rug renderings, patterns and other various projects. The candidate should ideally have a passion for textile and rug design and the desire to learn more about working in the interior design industry. Communication is a major part of the job, so the candidate must feel confident enough to contribute to the entire creative process.

* Oversee various design projects from concept to completion by creating renderings for production

* Successfully design within the parameters of budget, production, design, and perceived product value

* Collaborate with Design Manager and mills to determine best method of production

* Develop and maintain effective relationships with vendors and sales representatives

* Engage in continuous learning of product and process for team

* Conduct quality checks

* Guide team members to work closely with manufacturing on checking quality of samples and orders

* Assist sales teams with creative direction and specifications for sample/sketch requests

* Work closely with product managers and sales representatives to communicate design related issues that may disrupt manufacturing schedules

·         Any ad hoc projects as required

·         Good knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus

Requirements:

BFA in Surface Pattern Design, Textiles, Fibers & Fine Arts or a similar discipline or min. 3-5 years of design related experience in the field

Expert in Photoshop and Illustrator, knowledge of AutoCAD

Writing skills and excellent follow up communication  

Meticulous attention to detail

Team oriented attitude and strong work ethic

Ability to take direction and adhere to deadlines

Ability to independently manage daily workflow and meet expected deadlines

Ability to thoroughly learn and understand product capabilities and limitations

Textile or Carpet experience preferred

Continuing Abilities: 

Meet project deadlines

Proficient at color matching and understanding matching tolerances

Successfully interpret new sample requests

Able to knowledgeably discuss color matching and color direction

strong time management skills are a must
