Nestled in the heart of East Sacramento Dignity Health Mercy General Hospital is a 313 bed acute care facility that provides a wide range of services with special advocacy for the poor and underserved. Mercy General is home to the nationally ranked Alex G. Spanos Heart & Vascular Institute. Key achievements and recognitions include: from the Joint Commission; Advanced Joint Replacement Spine Center of Excellence Primary Stroke Center Ventricular Assist Device and Chest Pain Certification. Other accolades include CMS 5 stars Practice Green Health 2021 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade "A" Level 4 Epilepsy Center and Opioid Stewardship Honor Roll. Responsibilities

Position Summary: 

The Progressive Care Unit is a 35 bed high acuity fast paced Telemetry unit that demands a very high level of critical thinking team work and organization. The cardiovascular program is high volume in both open and hybrid procedures. The RNs function with a high degree of autonomy and deliver exceptional standards of care producing some of the best clinical outcomes in the state. Mercy General made the 35 top hospitals for cardiac surgery and ranked 3rd in the state of California HealthGrades (2022). 

Many registered nurses are attracted to our unit for a cutting edge and a high patient care experience. Besides developing the skill set to manage very acute and complex cardiovascular patients you will also experience direct care with our Coronary Artery bypass graft (CABG) Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) and thoracoabdominal aneurysm repair (TAAA) patients. We also specialize in the heart failure community leading us to managing our implantable mechanical circulatory device such as the Left Ventricular Assistive Device (LVAD). Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  •  Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license 
  • One (1) year of experience as an RN in an acute care Telemetry/Med-Surg unit
  •  BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) 
  • ACLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required within 6 months
  •  Other certifications may be required
