ABOUT THE POSITION

Senior Civil Design Engineer / Project Manager – Land Development | Hybrid | VT

 

VHB’s growing VT offices are seeking an experienced Senior Site/Civil Engineer/Project Manager to join our Land Development group. The successful candidate will work with our team of professionals to manage all aspects of site/civil engineering for public and private sites for our diverse portfolio of ski resort, real estate, energy, infill development, and state and municipal infrastructure and stormwater projects.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work independently with integrated teams of engineers, environmental scientists, and landscape architects in developing site/civil engineering plans and specifications for a multitude and public and private projects with a focus on sustainability and resiliency
  • Lead and assist with civil engineering for retail, residential, institutional, renewable energy and industrial site design including grading and drainage design, utility design, and site layout
  • Preparation and/or reviewing of design criteria, drawings and specifications
  • Preparation of schematic design, design development, and construction contract documentation
  • Lead the preparation of permitting, design and construction documents
  • Project task financial performance, and management of small or medium projects
  • Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issues
  • Technical and design report writing

  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Team oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and collaborate effectively and positively with other emerging professionals and managers
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced office, virtual, and field environment, in rural or urban environments
  • Proven strong work-ethic and self-motivated to produce high quality outcomes
  • Highly organized, and detail oriented, with ability think creatively and formulate solutions in team environment
  • Knowledge of local and state regulations governing site design

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study required, Master’s degree a plus (may substitute for 1 year of experience)
  • 8-11 years of professional site/civil design engineering experience, including consulting/private sector experience, required
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and HydroCAD required, GIS experience a plus
  • PE (Professional Engineer) license required
  • Solid understanding of the typical land entitlement process in VT including permitting at the local and state level preferred
