Whatnot has been one of the fastest growing marketplaces and we’re hiring forward-thinking problem solvers across all functional areas.RoleThe Whatnot Finance team consists of StratFP&A, Tax, and Controllership. The Controllership team is responsible for financial reporting, payroll, year-end audits, and accounting operations.• Collaborate on month-end close: Responsible for assigned monthly GL close tasks, which includes various journal entries, reconciliations, analytics, and variance explanations.• Ensure efficient day-to-day operations: Assist in the creation and management entity level reporting in Netsuite and day to day finance operational tasks in assigned areas including ongoing process improvement.• Support Ad Hoc Projects and requests: Support external audit requirements related to specific areas of responsibility, own ad-hoc projects as necessary• Cross-functional partnership: Manage assigned projects and collaborate with cross-functional team members within and outside of Finance in delivering impactful, high quality information to our business partnersTeam members in this role are required to be within commuting distance of our New York, San Francisco, or Los Angeles hubs.YouCurious about who thrives at Whatnot? We’ve found that low ego, a growth mindset, and leaning into action and high impact goes a long way here.As our next Accounting Associate you should have 2-3+ years professional experience in public accounting, plus:• BA/BS in Accounting; CPA is desired• Detailed understanding of month-end close processes and thorough US GAAP expertise• Experience auditing companies in the e-commerce/tech industries preferred• Advanced Excel and data manipulation skills• Proven ability to succeed in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment while running tight deadlines• Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership, takes initiative to simplify and improve processesCompensationFor US-based applicants: $95,000/year to $105,000/year + benefits + equityThe salary range may be inclusive of several levels that would be applicable to the position. Final salary will be based on a number of factors including, level, relevant prior experience, skills and expertise.
