Compensation: This is a Union position subject to a Collective Bargaining Agreement with IBEW Local 89. The starting annual salary for this role is $82,000.00

About the Organizer Role

As an Organizer, you’ll be on the front lines of building power with everyday people across the political spectrum. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Organizing and working as part of our national field team, you’ll build relationships with our members - many of whom have never organized before - and help them take meaningful action to improve their economic lives. You’ll meet people where they are, listen to their concerns, engage in conversations, bridge divides, and inspire action. You’ll connect with people who may disagree with you, yet you’ll find common ground in the shared goal of creating real economic change. 

You’ll also collaborate closely with team members across the organization, ensuring that insights from the field help shape our strategy and strengthen our movement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interact with members daily by phone, SMS, and video chat  
  • Complete  on-the-ground fieldwork, such as member mobilization for events, meetings, and training
  • Establish and maintain deep relationships with other everyday working Americans 
  • Work with internal teams to identify and prepare members to tell their stories to media and social platforms, elected officials and staff, and other press outlets 
  • Work collaboratively across the organization to execute organizational goals
  • Complete and support other tasks within the Advocacy purview
  • Demonstrated commitment to economic security for individuals, working families, and communities 
  • Demonstrated commitment to the elevation of directly impacted people to share their stories and voices on issues affecting their families and communities
  • Interest in virtual and digital relationship building and organizing; must be comfortable connecting with individuals over the phone, SMS, and video chat
  • Clear, concrete, and concise verbal and written communication skills
  • Capable of learning how to navigate and deescalate difficult conversations 
  • High level of comfort with Google Suite and a willingness to learn digital organizing tools (P2P SMS like ThruText, ThruTalk, Strive, and others)
  • Ability to take initiative and to effectively manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment at a growing organization
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • All levels of educational attainment are welcome
