Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to be based in Austin, Texas.

This position is expected to begin in May or June 2025.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with a team of Project managers, Water Resources Engineers, and GIS specialists in support of FEMA floodplain modeling and mapping studies, transportation drainage design, and other several water resources projects.
  • Performs Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) modeling and analyses to comply with FEMA guidelines and specifications.
  • Perform one-dimensional and two-dimensional floodplain modeling using software applications like HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and SRH2D.
  • Efficiently work with ArcGIS software in support of floodplain modeling and mapping.
  • Prepare project reports including engineering calculations, research, planning, and technical engineering reports.
  • Assist project managers and senior engineers in several water resources projects like transportation drainage design, and storm water planning and design.
  • Assist in field investigations in collecting data to perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Civil Engineering + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience using HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, ARCGIS Pro, Infoworks, Civil 3D, Bentley software, and/or SWMM software.
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • FE preferred.
