POSITION SUMMARY: Performs ultrasound procedures as requested by physicians with the utmost quality. Able to identify advance anatomy and assist doctors with invasive procedures. Provides care for patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist. Work side by side with Radiologists as well as other Doctors and Surgeons; and is able to anticipate what the Radiologist may need for each procedure. Understands that the Operating Room takes precedence when a patient is sedated and on the OR table. Must have the ability to take call and respond to work to help our critical patients during off hours.
RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from accredited ultrasound program required.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: A. R. D. M. S certification and New Mexico State license in Ultrasound required. New graduates will have six months to complete A. R. D. M. S. certification and New Mexico State license in Ultrasound. Registration in abdomen and OB/GYN preferred. OB/GYN certification required within the first 12 months of date of hire. BLS certification required within 1 month of hire date.
SKILLS: Thorough knowledge of sonographic procedures, equipment, and anatomy, physiology and medical terminology. As well as knowledge of advance procedures such as biopsy and thoracenteses.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1-year ultrasound experience preferred.

-Responsible to: Radiology Manager and lead Ultrasound Technologist

Exposure to various body fluids.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Lifts, transfers and positions patients and equipment in excess of 50 lbs.
