Job Description

The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation.

The Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Public Information (DCPI) serves as the primary liaison between the NYPD, the media, and the general public. Its mission is to provide timely and accurate information to news outlets for widespread distribution. DCPI also arranges press conference immediately after high-profile incidents have occurred to disseminate information as it comes in. DCPI is also responsible for creating and distributing the NYPD's in-house magazine Spring 3100.

DCPI is looking to hire a web developer whom will have the following duties:

- Layout and graphic design for Spring 3100 Magazine;
- Collaborate with design and editorial teams;
- Implement website layouts, content updates and new features.


WORK LOCATION: 1PP, ROOM 1320, CMD 524
WORK SCHEDULE: Mon-Fri, 0900 x 1700 hours


ADDITONAL INFORMATION:
In compliance with Federal Law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.

Qualifications

(1) A baccalaureate degree, with a major in fine or graphic arts, from an accredited college and one year of full-time paid experience as a commercial or graphic artist; or
(2) A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus two years of training in a technical school approved by a state’s Department of Education or comparable governmental agency, in oils, water colors, painting, design, black and white, layout, computer graphics, and other art media, and three years of acceptable full-time paid experience as a commercial or graphic artist.
To be qualified for assignment to Assignment Level II, individuals must have:
(a) at least one year of experience as a Graphic Artist, Assignment Level I; or
(b) the Qualification Requirements described in "1" or "2" above, plus two additional years of acceptable specialized paid experience conceptualizing and initiating graphic art projects.
