Immunization Clinic Supervisor, Bureau of Public Health Clinics

Job Description

The Bureau of Public Health Clinics (BPHC) mission is to promote a healthy community by providing New Yorkers with the resources needed to make informed and empowered health decisions; identify and treat tuberculosis and provide immunization and sexual health services regardless of ability to pay or immigration status. To achieve its mission, the BPHC provides direct clinic services to people seeking health care; monitors disease trends; provides education and training to service providers and community groups; conducts research; and develops policies and programs to deliver high quality clinical care which best serve New Yorkers.

BPHC seeks to hire an Immunization Clinic Supervisor. This position will report to the Nurse Director of Public Health Clinics and be responsible for oversight and management of not only the vaccination staff within the clinic but also critical management of numerous vaccines within the clinic.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- Manage DOHMH immunization clinic team and oversee day to day activities at the DOMMH walk-in immunization Clinic
- Provide on-site clinical supervision of routine clinical services and direct supervision of clinic staff including public health advisors, public health nurses and temporary agency nurses.
- Readily trouble-shoots issues that arise in the clinic, including handling periods of increased clinic demand and prioritizing needs of the clinic.
- Ensure compliance with Article 28 regulations, including blood-borne pathogen exposure, infection control and hazardous materials policies and procedures to assure a safe environment for staff.
- Responsible for in-service and education and training or all clinic staff, including two required annual trainings and training and orientation of agency nurses hired for school rush and flu season.
- Ensure that all BOl clinic policy and program activities reflect immunization program objectives.
- Responsible for development, implementation, and evaluation of quality assurance activities to support the Program's goals and objectives in the delivery of quality immunization services in the walk-in immunization clinic.
- Provide technical assistance to clinic staff with electronic heath record (SIS); needs/issues and assist Director with SIS updates enhancements.
- Ensure clinic provides quality customer service to patients.

Additional Information
Must follow all safety, security, Blood-borne pathogen exposure, infection control, and hazardous materials policies and procedures to assure a safe environment for staff and students. This includes using: personal protective wear, good hand hygiene, and adhering to sharps safety procedures.

Qualifications

1. A valid New York state license as a Registered Nurse, a baccalaureate degree in Nursing from an accredited college and a master's degree in Nursing, Public Health or a related field, plus four years of recent experience in public health or hospital nursing or a related field; at least 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive, consultative or educational capacity, or in supervision of professional public health nursing personnel working in any of the above mentioned areas; or

2. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above. However, all candidates must possess a valid New York State license as a Registered Nurse, and a baccalaureate degree in Nursing from an accredited college; and must possess the 18 months of specialized experience as described in "1" above.
