Job Description

Hours: Full-Time – 35 Hours
Work Location: 30-30 Thomson Avenue, NY, 11101

Only candidates who are currently probable permanent in the Civil Engineering Intern title, or those who are reachable on the Open-Competitive List (Exam #9036 or #2009), or those who filed for the Open-Competitive Exam #5047 may apply. Please include a copy of your Notice of Results, Receipt of Filing or indicate if you are already probable permanent in the title. If you do not meet the previously mentioned civil service criteria, you will not be considered for an interview.

The NYC Department of Design and Construction’s Division of Infrastructure is currently seeking a Junior Engineer (Capital / Scope) to join the Program Management’s Engineering and Support Services - FEP/Drainage Planning and Modeling / Capital /Scope Engineering) team.

Successful candidate will report to an Engineer-In-Charge and will work on complex project planning and preliminary design analysis in support of multiple City initiatives and the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Department of Environmental Protection (DEP)’s Long Term Control Planning for roadway, sewer, and water main projects.

Additionally, the selected candidates will receive hands on training and assist with moderate to difficult engineering work, such as, research studies, engineering investigations, and examinations relating to engineering functions. The work and/or training will be in one or more of the following specialized engineering areas: drainage and grading analysis, structural computations, preliminary design development, design drafting, engineering investigations, field surveys/site inspections, and cost estimating.

Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position. NYC Department of Design and Construction does not provide sponsorship for international employees. 1. A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college. A degree in any other engineering area or in civil engineering technology is not acceptable.
