Development Support Intern


The Development Support team is looking for an intern who is interested in creating automated test systems. You will be learning the methodology of how video games are manually tested and how we are currently using automation in our projects. This includes learning basic and sophisticated testing workflows that establish the foundation of how to design automation systems. There will be opportunities to collaborate with other departments throughout the studio as we develop new automation features. You will work closely with the QA Engineering team and have opportunities to be mentored.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Design, build, and maintain automated testing suites for games in development
  • Partner with other Tools and Game Development teams to create or request the tools needed to build better automation
  • Learn about the Development Support department responsibilities, tools, processes, and philosophies
  • Work with our proprietary development tools
  • Collaborate with other Development Support teams to understand the testing needs of their projects and gather requirements for automated tests
  • Write documentation for game teams to interact knowledgeably with generated test reports
  • Author bugs and tasks through Jira
  • Follow team coding standards and best practices


Internship Qualifications:


  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited university or educational institution, pursuing a Diploma, Certificate, Bachelor's, Master’s, or Ph.D or six to twelve months related experience or training.
  • Internships are available to students who are US citizens or international students with an F-1 visa.
  • Basic programming proficiency with one or more languages, especially Python, Java, C#, or C++.
  • Knowledge of one or more game engines.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prime candidates are curious, self-motivated, teamwork-minded, and detail-oriented.
  • A strong desire to learn and understand the technologies involved in game creation.
  • Knowledge of game pipelines, version control software (Perforce), Atlassian Jira and Confluence a plus.


Internship Details:


  • This is a paid, full-time internship: 5 days per week for approximately 40 hours a week.
  • We expect at least an 8-week commitment from our interns.
  • This role is based in Burbank, CA or remote from an approved US state.

Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. 


Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

This is a flexible role that can be remote, with varying pay ranges based on geographic location. For example, if you are based out of Seattle, the estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.


$33.25—$45.75 USD
