Billing Specialist

Location: This position has a hybrid structure. The Ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations; Plano, TX and Indianapolis, IN.

The Billing Specialist assembles and maintains all necessary documentation for billing purposes. 

How you will make an impact:

  • Maintains billing system database.
  • Identifies, analyzes and reconciles discrepancies in data; posts to sub ledgers.
  • Coordinates account eligibility with Membership areas.
  • Provides billing information to internal and external contacts; and first line collections. 
  • Professional and timely oral or written communication to internal and external customers.

Minimum requirements:

  • Requires H.S. diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 1 year billing and collections experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. 

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills strongly preferred. 
  • Strong analytical and math skills strongly preferred.
  • AS in accounting preferred. 
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, Excel preferred. 
  • Strong understanding of Explanation of Benefits, Ansi Codes, Reason Codes and Denial Codes, preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment within specified deadlines, preferred.
  • Experience in daily processing and reconciliation of cash receipts and postings to customer accounts, including payments made by EFT/ERA, credit card, lockbox and branch deposits as well as other adjustments to customer accounts for credits/debits and account write-offs at the line-item level, preferred.
  • 10-Key: 10,000+ KPH, preferred.
  • Ability to work overtime when necessary to meet department goals and objectives, preferred.

Elevance Health operates in a Hybrid Workforce Strategy. Candidates must reside within 50 miles or 1-hour commute each way of a relevant Elevance Health location.
