About this role

As a Product Manager, you will be responsible for driving the success of your squads initiatives by bridging the gap between user needs and what the development team builds. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to solve problems and seize opportunities that drive value for our customers, ensuring they contribute to the overall product vision defined by the Chief Product Officer. 

About the team

The Product-Technology team at Fuse is made up of the Product, Tech and QA functions. Within Product, you will be part of the Product Management team, who work alongside Product Design and Product Ops team.  In Tech, we have Engineering and the Platform team.
In QA, the team is split between Analysts and Automation. Our squad structure has a permanent Product Manager, Lead Engineer and Lead QA Analyst, these squads are led by KPI’s which is how the success of your role will be measured. 

Your Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy:
    • Develop and execute a product development strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives.
    • Conduct market research and competitive analysis, paying close attention to trends in learning and development.
    • Define the product area vision, mission, and value proposition, your squad area can enhance our core offerings and create new opportunities for people to learn.
  • Roadmap Planning:
    • Create detailed product roadmaps and prioritise features based on customer needs and business goals.
    • Translate business needs into actionable product features and solutions.
    • Develop detailed product specifications, user stories, and KPIs tailored to your squads initiatives.
    • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, especially marketing, design, and customers, to ensure the feasibility and impact of proposed features.
  • Product Development and Launch:
    • Lead the development process in your area, ensuring best practices for accessibility and learning are implemented throughout.
    • Work closely with engineering, data science, design, and relevant business stakeholders to drive projects from inception to launch, fostering a collaborative and iterative approach.
    • Plan and execute product launches, tailoring marketing campaigns, sales enablement, and customer training to highlight the value proposition.
  • Customer Focus:
    • Build strong relationships with customers and the learning industry to understand needs and pain points..
    • Conduct user research and usability testing to inform product decisions.
    • Advocate for the customer's perspective within the organisation.
    • Advocate for user satisfaction and gather feedback to improve products.
    • Continuously seeking to understand customer needs, pain points, and motivations to develop products that meet customer requirements and deliver value.
  • Backlog Grooming:
    • Regularly review and refine your product area backlog to ensure it's clear, concise, and prioritised.
    • Collaborate with the development team to break down user stories into smaller, actionable tasks.
    • Expertise in backlog prioritization, roadmap planning, and executing product strategies.
  • Capacity Planning and Monitoring:
    • Work with the squad to assess their capacity and allocate work accordingly.
    • Monitor squad run rate and project forwards to support stakeholder management on delivery dates.
    • Providing a business case that includes options for how to accelerate delivery by adding more internal or external resources.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with backlog items, such as technical challenges or dependencies.
  • Communication and Transparency:
    • Communicate the product roadmap and backlog priorities effectively to the team and stakeholders.
    • Provide regular updates on the status of the backlog and any changes to priorities.
    • Participate in tech ceremonies, resolve cross-product dependencies, and support organizational goals.
    • Participating in team ceremonies, such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, to ensure the engineering team has a clear understanding of product priorities.
    • Triaging and resolving product-related issues, working with the engineering team to address bugs, and communicating with stakeholders to manage expectations.
    • Work closely with various stakeholders, including engineering, design, marketing, commercial, and customer success teams to ensure successful product development.
    • Support a strong culture of knowledge sharing and product decision and design documentation.
    • Ability to influence decisions through data-driven insights and collaboration.
  • Strategic Thinking: The ability to think long-term and develop comprehensive product strategies.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: A strong foundation in data analysis and the ability to use data to inform product decisions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Exceptional ability to work effectively with diverse teams, including engineering, data science, design, product marketing, and business stakeholders, to drive product development.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving challenges.
  • Adaptability: The ability to adapt to the rapidly evolving AI landscape, staying abreast of new technologies and trends and adjusting product strategy accordingly.
  • Detail-Oriented: A keen eye for detail, ensuring accuracy and completeness in all aspects of product development, particularly when defining requirements.

Preferred Technology Experience

  • Experience of building products within the learning industry is preferred. 
  • Familiarity with community based platforms.
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
  • Experience with product management tools (e.g., Jira, Userpilot preferred).
