Our work depends on a Data Scientist joining our team to help identify intelligence hidden in vast amounts of data and illuminating networks of concern and direct investigative decisions to deliver high quality investigative products.
HOW A DATA SCIENTIST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
• Applying data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis
• Using classified and unclassified systems to support creating targetable opportunities by identifying individuals and drugs and/or weapons trafficking organizations that pose a threat to the mail-stream and federal customers, employees, and infrastructure.
• Use analytical targeting information from other programs.
• Analyze processes in place to find a way to incorporate new processes within a new target model.
• Develop and Build Automated Tools to optimize classifiers using machine learning techniques associated to automation when working with large data sets.
• Enhance data collection procedures to automate repetitive processes, include relevant data for building analytical systems, process, cleanse and verify the integrity of the data.
• Conduct ad-hoc analysis and present results in a clear manner which could include presentations, written documents and/or graphs and charts for visual aids.
• Assist with general IT support as needed for the skill level of the data scientists.
• Enhance and support a Cloud resource hosting solutions.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline (preferred)
Required Experience:
• 8+ years of related professional work experience
Required Skills & Abilities:
• Demonstrated ability to build high quality prediction systems, and integrating these specialties and results with existing products
• Demonstrated ability to utilize state-of-the-art methods to mine large data sets in various formats and from various sources to produce intelligence products
• Demonstrated ability to utilize available third-party data sources to enhance a more comprehensive analytical picture
• Demonstrated ability to create an automated detection system with internal tracking of its performance
Security Clearance Level:
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting
• This position has a U.S. residency requirement. The USPS security clearance process requires the selected candidate to have resided in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the last five years as follows: U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 6 months consecutively in the last 3 years (unless they meet certain exceptions). Non-U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 90 days consecutively in the last 3 years.

The likely salary range for this position is $106,371 - $177,632. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
