Speech Pathologist - Melbourne

Job title: Paediatric Speech Pathologist - Clinic Based/Community - Western Suburbs

Working hours: Full-time / Part-time position

Salary: $72K - $110K per annum + super + Benefits

Location: Sydenham VIC

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

The Company is an award-winning allied health care centre with 4 state-of-the-art clinics throughout Melbourne. The clinics offer a range of onsite, remote, and in-home services to clients receiving Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Psychology, Physiotherapy, Chiropractic, Dietetics and Allied Heath care services.

Due to the exciting growth, they currently have an exciting opportunity for passionate and driven Speech Pathologists to join their team. In this role, you will have the choice of working on and off-site to manage your own caseload. You will possess strong clinical skills with the ability to follow through as well as the ability to co-manage clients with different health professionals in a dynamic team environment.

As a Speechy you will be responsible for:

  • Speech – support to speak more clearly and be understood
  • Language – support for people who may have trouble putting their ideas and thoughts into words and sentences or who may need support with reading and writing
  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication – support using devices for people with complex communication needs
  • Social Skills – support to improve the understanding of the rules for social interaction and awareness of body language, facial expressions and voice tone to improve social interactions
  • Stuttering – provide strategies to support smooth speech delivery and management of stuttering to increase confidence
  • Voice – provide exercises and support to optimize voice quality and develop healthy vocal habits

Working with adults and children who have a range of conditions:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Down Syndrome
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Developmental delays
  • Stammers
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Intellectual disabilities
  • Cleft Palate
  • Voice disorders

You will also be responsible for:

  • Swallowing – make mealtime more enjoyable by reducing risk and increasing acceptance of different foods and textures
  • Taking on more clients than new grads
  • Seeing a greater variety of clients of all types
  • Look at completing AT assessment and reports independently
  • Be able to effectively supervise AHA students in clinic
  • Give opportunity to new grads to observe
  • Be a buddy for new grad Speech Paths
  • Participate in MDT training and workshops
  • Begin to build skills in particular clinical areas

  • Certified Practising Member of Speech Pathology Australia
  • Working with Children Check
  • Victorian Police Check
  • Australian driver's license
