Privately operated since 1995, Johanna Foods is now one of the country's largest producers and distributors of fruit juices, drinks and yogurt. Our products include the popular La Yogurt and Sabor Latino yogurt, Tree Ripe juices, Earth Wise juice beverages, Ssips and Sabor Latino drinks and nectars, and Ssips aseptic drink boxes, all using cutting-edge technologies and only the freshest, highest quality ingredients. Johanna Foods is also a leading private label and co-pack juice and yogurt producer, manufacturing products for numerous leading retailers and brands.

Job Summary:

Leads the cost accounting for three distinct business units: Yogurt, Juice/Beverage and Smoothie. Trains and develops staff of cost accountants to ensure accurate reporting of results. Manage all costing projects. Review department prepared reports for accuracy, completeness and reasonableness. Responsible for ensuring accuracy of balance sheet accounts and associated reconciliations. Organize monthly close, division monthly incentive performance and present findings to management. Partner with Supply Chain and Manufacturing to report KPIs on yield, inventory, and costs. Leads Accounts Payable staff and performs final review and approval for daily payments. Direct and coordinate special projects including manufacturing issues, completes quarterly census reporting and the plant-wide annual physical inventory.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, and reconcile inventory and usage records including purchases, usage, and variances (gains/losses).
  • Ensure Balance Sheet and P&L accuracy, identify sources of variances and drivers to target for performance improvement
  • Preparation of weekly and monthly operations reports for management - reports include gain/loss schedule, weeks of inventory, manufacturing costs, productivity, and analysis of major COGS components.
  • Preparation of monthly closing journal entries.
  • Analysis of production overhead expense.
  • Analysis and presentation of monthly divisional contribution margin.
  • Maintains G/L system account structure and calendar dates, runs system jobs to ensure data interface/roll-up.
  • Analysis and monthly reconciliation of G/L balance sheet accounts.
  • Maintain an Excel-based actual costing system for all finished products.
  • Maintain a rapport with various levels of management in manufacturing and supply chain. Stay current with changes in plant facilities and operations. Attend manufacturing meetings.
  • Preparation of product costing for new products, analyze impact of input changes to product costs for existing items.
  • Responsible for IC Disc calculation and reconciliation with auditor.
  • Assist in year-end physical inventory.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree with a concentration in Accounting. CPA license preferred.
  • Minimum of fifteen years public/private accounting with a minimum of eight years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
  • Curiosity and desire to “dive into” the detail.
  • Commitment to continuous process improvement.
