Head of Design

Pluralis Research is pioneering Protocol Learning—a fully decentralised way to train and deploy AI models that opens this layer to individuals rather than well resourced corporates. By pooling compute from many participants, incentivising their efforts, and preventing any single party from controlling a model’s full weights, we’re creating a genuinely open, collaborative path to frontier-scale AI.

Head of Design

Shape the visual identity of a breakthrough AI company. As the first design hire at Pluralis, you'll define our brand aesthetic across digital and physical touchpoints while creating intuitive interfaces for complex distributed systems. Working directly with the CEO, you'll translate our technical vision into compelling visual narratives that communicate the transformative potential of Protocol Learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Brand Development: Create and evolve a cohesive visual identity that reflects our technical expertise and revolutionary vision.

  • UI/UX Design: Design elegant interfaces for complex systems, making distributed AI training accessible to a wider audience.

  • Communication Design: Develop compelling visual materials for investor presentations, website, documentation, and social media.

  • Physical Design: Contribute to physical space design, event experiences, and tangible brand elements.

  • Design Systems: Build scalable design systems that maintain consistency across all touchpoints.

What We're Looking For

  • Versatile Portfolio: Demonstrated excellence across digital product design, brand identity, and visual communication.

  • Technical Understanding: Ability to grasp complex technical concepts and translate them into intuitive visual systems.

  • Strategic Thinking: Design approach informed by business goals and user needs rather than just aesthetics.

  • Execution Excellence: Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to deliver polished work across various mediums.

  • Collaborative Mindset: Experience working directly with founders/executives and technical teams.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Equity-Heavy Package: We offer meaningful ownership for founding team members.

  • Competitive Base: Pluralis is hiring the best.

  • Visa Sponsorship: Optional full visa sponsorship and relocation support to either US or Australia.

  • Remote-First Culture: Flexible work environment with team members distributed globally. We have two hubs; New York and Melbourne with optional hybrid work if desired.

  • Cutting-Edge Domain: Shape the visual language for an entirely new approach to AI development.

Backed by Union Square Ventures and other tier-1 investors, we’re a world-class, deeply technical team of ML researchers. Pluralis is unapologetically ideological. We view the world as a better place if we are able to implement what we are attempting, and Protocol Learning as the only plausible approach to preventing a handful of massive corporations monopolising model development, access and release, and achieving massive economic capture. If this resonates, please apply.
