Job Summary
We are a venture-backed startup developing next-generation orchestration software for autonomous systems. Our platform enables the complex coordination of multi-domain robotic systems with applications in defense and commercial sectors.
We are seeking an experienced design leader to shape the future of our human-computer interfaces. In this role, you will establish and drive our design vision, lead the development and implementation of a next-generation design system, and manage both in-house and contract designers. This is an opportunity to define the design practice at the forefront of robotics and autonomy.
Key Responsibilities
Lead design strategy and vision for our robotics orchestration platform
Establish and maintain comprehensive design systems and guidelines
Create user experience frameworks for complex 3D visualizations and control interfaces
Manage and mentor design team, including contract designers
Collaborate closely with lead engineers on technical feasibility and implementation
Collaborate closely with product leaders to understand users and their requirements
Drive user research and translate findings into actionable design improvements
Own the end-to-end design process from concept to implementation
Establish design processes and documentation standards
Required Qualifications
7+ years of product design experience
3+ years of design leadership experience
Strong portfolio demonstrating complex technical interfaces
Experience with 3D visualization interfaces and spatial design
Proven track record of building and managing design systems
Experience managing design teams
Strong understanding of technical constraints and developer workflows
Excellence in standard design and prototyping tools (e.g. Figma)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in robotics, aerospace, or defense industries
Background in data visualization or real-time system monitoring
Knowledge of 3D web technologies (WebGL, Three.js)
Experience with Unreal Engine or Unity
Experience with enterprise software design
Familiarity with modern frontend development practices

This is a 6-month contract-to-hire position with an expected compensation range of $75–$125 per hour, commensurate with your experience, portfolio, and ability to contribute to project success.
