Job Description

RRD has an immediate opening for a Manager of Manufacturing in our Houston, TX facility supporting our Supply Chain Solutions Division! 

 

Job Summary

The Manager of Manufacturing is primarily responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the activities of production department operations which also includes the performance of all functions within the department.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, mentor, motivate and inspire direct reports to achieve an optimum level of performance by consistently demonstrating role model behavior.
  • Plan and direct production activities and establish production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Has a deep Understanding of ISO 9001 and ISO 1345 and the operation department
    documentation and process conform to those certificates
  • Ensure that employees know and understand customer and quality requirements and
    standards.
  • Set the quality direction to maintain production throughput while meeting/ exceeding
    quality requirements.
  • Ensures that all aspects of the Quality Policy and Objectives, as well as OSHA rules
    and regulations, are understood and enacted.
  • Coordinate production activities with warehouse, procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of machines and equipment.
  • Conduct Daily Production meetings.
  • Review and analyze quality, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems.
  • Develop and revise production schedules and priorities as a result of customer requirements, equipment failure, or operating problems.
  • Consult with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
  • Identify and develop continuous improvements to production processes with the supervisors and Lead Lean experts.
  • Ensure that supervisors are aware of and adhere to plant safety rules and regulations. Works with the supervisors to develop a safety culture with zero accidents/incidents.
  • Maintain a clean environment that enhances plant safety. Conduct 5S audits. Ensure 5S audit actions are addressed in a timely manner and are effective.
  • Evaluate and provide training as needed, setting in place a long-term training strategy.
  • Evaluate equipment needs and propose changes to meet site objectives.
  • Review site operations goals with department employees.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews for direct reports in a timely manner. 
  • Participate in and satisfactorily complete all required training programs for the assigned position.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Associates Degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Management or similar field. Bachelors Degree preferred. 
  • 5 years of experience within a manufacturing operation.
  • Prior supervisory experience. 
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification is a huge plus.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and procurement/supply chain.
  • SAP or similar ERP experience required. 
  • Experience in developing & maintaining Continuous Improvement processes and procedures. 
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills are required.

Additional Information

RRD's current salary range for this role is $90,800 to $145,300 / year. The salary range may be adjusted based on the applicable geographic location of the hired employee, and the range may change in the future. At RRD, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions may vary based upon, but not limited to education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. Depending on the role, in addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program. RRD’s benefit offerings include medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, disability insurance, 401(k) with company match, life insurance and other voluntary supplemental insurance coverages, plus parental leave, adoption assistance, tuition assistance and employer/partner discounts.
